I Like Flowers, dammit! And I don't see any problem with sending them to great people
like Elizabeth Edwards.

Donating to cancer research is great too.

1. Thou shall not send flowers to ANYONE!!
I agree with you, there's nothing wrong with trying being nice. But you know someone always has to complaint.

3. Don't let the grinches get you down
Roses, donations to cancer research etc. or to JE's campaign - it's all good.

6. An invitation to join in
sending Elizabeth Edwards flowers somehow turned into a negotiation. Invitation does NOT equal negotiation. Sometimes a nice gesture is just that....it's not always about politics or causes, sometimes it just about doing something nice for someone to make them feel loved.

7. Yeah. It actually became more of an argument and
an opportunity for some to play "holier than thou".

Sad, because all the ideas are good ones.

8. You're right......
all of the ideas were good but the argument got ridiculous.

9. I know. I wonder about these internet arguments. Maybe we're all in alpha state
when we type for more than 20 minutes?

14. FWIW, and I have no dog in this race, I think sometimes people read
to much into a post and are offended. As a bystander who just came upon this, that's what I see. I don't see holier than thou. It looks more like a bunch of tired people who should be resting instead of posting.

16. You may have a point, Mrs. Grumpy
And I can't help but think that part of it is that everyone is really upset about Elizabeth Edwards. She's a great lady and it's such bad news. Makes us all a little upset.

23. Flowers are environmentally unfriendly...
..think of the energy, fertilizer, CO2 emissions from transport, post-wilting waste...

J/K
They are pretty.

25. Locking. There are a number of open threads
about showing support for Mrs. Edwards and her family.

This doesn't seem to promote whatever show of support DUers choose to make for the Edwards. It appears inflammatory.

Thanks for your consideration.
