1. I watch their program
at least four nights a week, usually five, and there is one thing I cannot figure out.

At the end of each show they show pictures of the dead troops as they become available. Each night it is a minimum of seven, average of around eleven and as high as 25.

I'm no damn mathematician, but after years of watching this, with no memory of less than three, it doesn't add up.

I come up with at least 7,000 and up to 11,000.

2. Tally
You make an interesting point, and I can't explain it. I watch the Newshour too but I haven't done the math.

CNN.com at "Forces: U.S. and Coalition Casualties" has a current tally with names, pictures, age, hometown and other details. It says 3,487 dead and "at least" 24,187 wounded. It's terribly sad, but what really gets me are the ages. So many are really just kids, cut off in their youth by a terrible, pointless, and tragic war that should never have been.
