Does Seppuku violate the Eighth Amendment?

The Eighth Amendment bans "cruel and unusual punishment." It's in the Constitution, which Fearless Leader has described as "just a Goddamn piece of paper."

If it's NOT a form of cruel and unusual punishment, how much of the deficit, national debt and war could we pay off by ordering the entire Bush administration to commit seppuku on a worldwide pay-per-view broadcast, for which we charge 25 of whatever your nation's currency is?

2. I think it would be only if it were imposed as a punishment by a government agency.

If someone up and seppukus of their own volition... well, there's not really any way to punish them when they're done anyway, is there?

Ritual suicide only occurs when a person has committed wrongdoing and realizes it. Nobody in the Bush Administration will ever admit that they did anything wrong.

If you want a comparison, Adolph Hitler didn't kill himself and Eva Braun because he had failed. At the end he still blamed the German people for failing HIM. He only killed himself because he didn't want to be touched by the "inferior races."
