She goes along kind of quiet for a while, and we think maybe she'll get back to the business of being governor and then -- BAM -- she's got to do another stoopid interview. 2010 can't come soon enough for me. If she gets a second term, I might have to kill myself.

Mrs. Palin makes me think of someone who wants to play in the major leagues, but wants to be allowed to bat from second base. And be pitched to underhand. With the fences moved in 100 feet. "Guess what, Grandpa. I hit a real home run!"

off a tee.

Oh, and when you field the ball, you can't throw it to the person on the base she's running to, you have to run and tag her out yourself. Only you have to run in slow motion, like you're walking on the moon.

9. She's as full of it as a Christmas moose--but seriously,
she doesn't understand that she was a total unknown to the majority of American voters when she was named McCain's running mate. On the other hand, we have grown up with all kinds of press concerning the Kennedy family and their foibles. Sarah has nothing to complain about when the coverage of her family is contrasted with the scrutiny given to the Kennedys. Maybe she should ask them how they felt about the focus given to Teddy surrounding Chappaquidick. She simply wants to create another of her infamous divisions. If she were truly a capable politician she would walk away from this trivial crap and start working on ways she can show up in Juneau for the legislative session.

10. Quote from article you linked to
Gov. Palin gave the interview Monday as one of many voices contributing to the film “Media Malpractice…How Obama Got Elected,” concerning the performance of the media last fall.

This is BS, they tried to swift boat Mr. Obama a few times. They gave Sara Palin a few passes, although there was a quick rush to find out about her, it was in no way harsher then swift boating done to Mr. Obama. This 'movie' needs to show how much they tried to attack Mr. Obama on silly out of perspective, he knew a guy, so he must be..., type distortions. The media played some of this, but they also called the Republican smear machine on the ridiculousness of their false labeling tactics.

It took Sara Palin flubbing a few interviews to lose the vote of the middle, it was not the media or the (history rewriting) claim that it was the economy. Her post convention bump disappeared when people realized the Republicans were trying to create a image not a candidate. And even with the economy, it was not the event, it was how the candidates handled themselves.

True SNL did roast her, but it was because she was so roastable. Which is actually not her fault. I think the argument that the RNC picked her as a long shot, because they knew they were going to lose, is most probable. I figure they did not care if a Republican that was making a few waves in Alaska got hurt from a losing election. They did not want to risk putting a insider Republican on the ticket in a losing year.

The only election thing the media did to the Republicans this time, was to not completely lock step agree to their view and perspective on everything.

19. I don't think Republican Spin Machine qualifies as sweet little lies.

They seem to believe in the Ugly big lie, You know the one where they believe a lie told often enough, and if it is outragous enough, will be believed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Lie

Some historical examples of the big lie
The phrase was also used in a report prepared during the war by the United States Office of Strategic Services in describing Hitler's psychological profile:

His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.

George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four refers to the Big Lie theory on several occasions. For example:

“The key-word here is blackwhite. Like so many Newspeak words, this word has two mutually contradictory meanings. Applied to an opponent, it means the habit of impudently claiming that black is white, in contradiction of the plain facts”.
“To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed...”.

It does everything but pronounce that Sarah's enemies will no doubt end up in the lake of hellfire, but that she is praying for them and wishes them well and that they will turn from their evil ways before they are forced by Satan to accept their final fate.

http://community.adn.com/adn/node/136414?pageNum=1&&mi_pluck_action=page_nav#Comments_Container Read the editor's blog, as well ... it's all pretty interesting. Sarah is the one who has the power to put all these issues and controversies to rest, but she chooses to obfuscate and play games. If she'd just get down to business and do her job -- attending to the needs of the people she's supposedly governing -- we'd all get off her case, but so far it's all about her and her image.

29. Palin is under the mistaken assumption that she and Obama were comparable candidates.
Edited on Thu Jan-08-09 11:47 PM by Marr
I think she really believes her rhetoric on this point. I think she really is that stupid.

My perception was that the media spent considerably more time criticizing the Obama campaign than McCain/Palin, but it's not flat time that's important-- it's whether the criticism was *warranted*.

Say what you like about Obama-- I've never been a big fan-- but he was an amazing candidate. The man just never messed up, and always said exactly the right thing. I don't think I've ever seen a candidate run a better campaign, or project such confidence and competence.

Palin, on the other hand, was literally the *worst* national candidate I've ever seen. From "in what respect, Charlie", to 'the country of Africa', to "y'know, I read all of the papers-- oh ya, all of 'em", to "I'll get back to ya" to "I can see Russia from my hooouse!" to the expensive clothes and on and on and on... the woman was a non-stop train wreck.

But she *still* had comparable coverage to Obama, in terms of criticism. The media had to make shit up to attack Obama, while they just ignored or lightly touched on Palin's stupidity.

What I'm saying is that these two people should not have had comparable coverage, because they were not comparable candidates. Palin seems to think she's in Obama's league, and she just isn't.

31. I think Sarah Palin is accomplished & non-elitist +she is definitely not some hypocritical
namby-pamby meat eater who thinks turkey and chicken parts are fresh born in plastic wrappers and never thinks about the workers in those damned meat factories with their high rates of injuries (and of course the workers are almost all immigrants).

Take a good look at our current situation. Everyone misunderestimated George Bush, said he was stupid, couldn't speak well, didn't know much ---but he is riding high and we are in debt up to our eyeballs for decades to come. He outsmarted those who got their jollies out of laughing at him. He fooled one half the country on Iraq and then fooled the rest with the big October surprise bailout. (Fool me once shame on you....) I am not sure Sarah Palin would have fallen for that crap but the Congressional Democrats sure did.

....and what do we have now---presented to us by a Democratic administration----a Supply Side economic program, a Fisa spy program, a DNC chair who is anti-choice, anti-glbt rights, and a champion of the Iraq War. Throw in the massive oversupply of Harvard -educated theoreticians acting as advisors and we will probably be in an even bigger mess in 6 months. I am not seeing much change here.

...and as for Sarah Palin ---she struck a good deals for the people of Alaska----improved their take from the oil company royalties. When was the last time your state governor got you some money from oil companies? ......as for being dumb----at least she never told me she had been to 57 states or to get a tune up for my car to improve mileage, duh. -----dumb statements but I gave him a pass so why would I not do the same for Palin?

I am not dumb enough to make fun of Sarah Palin. If you choose to be, continue the sixth grade lemon squeeze. Your in steerage on the Titanic and the ship is going down..Do you think Larry Summers or Robert Rubin (Citibank) are going to let uninfluential you reach a lifeboat? Do you think your leader is going to tell them you and I are a priority over the people who gave them vast amounts of money.

Consider that women are over 50% of our population and only 17% of our representatives. A sad record considering Rwanda now stands at 52%. We have never had a woman in elective office in the Executive branch. Could it be .............bigotry?

This was fun to write.....I'll have to do this more often.

The Con Man won. He fooled the Dems once with his selection, again with 9/11, yet again with Iraq, yet again with his "re-election", and yet again with the $700.000 billion bailout for his friends and supporters.

He's doing fine, we're broke.
