Anti-Hillary "1984" ad backfires.
Two–thirds of likely Democratic primary voters who had viewed the “Hillary 1984” video now sweeping across the Internet and the American political landscape said it will not change their opinions of presidential candidates Hillary Clinton of New York and Barack Obama of Illinois, a new Zogby Interactive video survey shows.

But the remaining one–third of likely primary voters were three times more likely to favor Clinton over Obama after seeing the video, the survey shows. Twenty–one percent said they were either “offended” or “bothered” by the video, and that it made them more likely to support Clinton as a result. Just 7% said they were either “entertained” or “excited” by the video and were, as a result, more likely to support Obama’s run for the nomination.

Well, I was entertained by it, but other than that I really didn't think that much of it. Still, I'm kind of surprised it garnered a negative reaction, especially considering how much the media touted it.

4. I've been very negative on Hilary
On the other hand I've been thinking I don't want to bloody her too much in case she does end up our candidate; it's kind of a catch 22 I suppose.

2. 2.2 million views of the video so far
It is interesting that there have been 2.2 million views on youtube of the video so far - when you include a couple variations of it that are posted.

There was a report on BBC World Service tonight about the video. They said that there were 15,000 views of a video of Hillary explaining her vote on the Iraq war, but over 1 million views of her off-key singing of the National Anthem. Entertainment overrides information.

3. But they only asked Democrats
I'm concerned about the effect those kinds of attacks will have on the opinions of Independents and moderate Republicans. Hillary may be our nominee and I can't help but remember how the Swiftboats crap resonated.

6. Really, I wish we had a no-negative policy during the primaries.
No need to do the Republicans' work for them.

9. Exactly. This was so counter-productive. It's something Rove would do.

5. At the end of the day, the thing could eventually be irrelevant because of Al Gore.
If he runs, we won't be thinking of this at all.

14. Oh, how cruel those words are to read.
Yet almost certainly true.

7. This too shall pass
I can probably count on one hand the number of votes that will turn on a bootlegged ad from a rogue ad agency employee produced almost a year before the Iowa caucuses.

8. I'm Gonna Make This Bet\Prediction Right Now !!!
Neither Hillary Clinton, nor Barak Obama, will be the Democratic Presidential nominees come fall of 2008.

Just a hunch here.

10. That's what I suspect as well.
Though at this point I'm voting for Obama, and I know I won't support Clinton in the primary. I think someone else will come forward as a "consensus."

11. If they turn negative, that's exactly what's gonna happen.
Look at the 2004 Iowa race between Dean and Gephardt.
