1. Heh heh heh. I am amazed these days that anyone cops to being a Republic
When I worked as an elections officer during the midterm election, all the young people were Democrats. Every last one.

4. That fully indoctrinated hardcore 25% is still there
Some of the rightwingers are now saying they are libertarians. One guy I know says he is a small 'l' libertarian and a social conservative. That is a description of a conservative Republican but he thinks I don't realize that. Thinking himself effectively distanced from the disasterous results of Republican rule, he continues to espouse many of the same failed ideologies that got us where we are today.

5. Interesting - the new libertarians. I suppose there will always be this group in some form.

7. This is a trend I have noticed for some time now
I have a lot of friends I met while working and they're spread out all over. Turns out many of them happen to be rightwingers. This is definitely a trend. These people who once identified as conservative Republicans are changing their identities to conservative libertarian.

I predict this and other forces, notably the realization at last of the religious right that they have been played as a bunch of fools by the Republican party, will cause emergence of a third party that will siphon off rightwing voters in 2008. Republicans will feel like Custer had it pretty good compared to what they're going to have shoved up their 'ahem' noses.

6. then why are McCain and Rudy running well in the polls against democrats and even in states like PA
and NJ. I think this poll does demonstrate the inclinations of the country, but it confuses me why they would want, after eight years of Bush, another Republican!!
