Bush will write memoir: "It's very hard for people to remember what life was like right after 9/11"

President George W. Bush revealed Sunday that he plans to write a book after leaving office later this month, but admitted he's not yet sure what it will be about.

"I'm not quite exactly sure what it's going to be, but I'm toying with the idea of maybe describing the toughest decisions I had to make as president and the context in which I made them," Bush said in an interview on Fox News Sunday.

"What's evident to me is that it is very hard for people to remember what life was like a mere four or five years ago, and it could be very important for me to recreate the environment in which I had to make certain decisions, particularly the environment of right after September the 11th, 2001," he said.

Bush, who throughout his eight years in office has frequently been chided in the media for lapses of eloquence when he expressed himself, declined to set a timeframe for his writing project.

"I could say two years and it could be four. I'd like to get her done," he said.

"I am a type 'A' personality. I require things to do. Once I get going on this book, I'll be able to get her done," he said.

We had a Bill of Rights and we had a Constitution as well. Bush should go peddle his story to Jack Daniels.

4 or 5 years? Bet the people of New Orleans remember it better than you. 2001, being seven years ago, isn't too difficult. You weren't around for that either.

19. How aboiut recreating the environment before 9/11?
The 40% of the time you spent vacationing in Crawdad, instead of doing your job. Or recreate the lack of interest you had on 8/6/01 when you were rudely interrupted by the CIA trying to get your attention. Or maybe you can tell us what you were really thinking in the classroom after Card told you about the 2nd plane....and you did nothing. Recreate that.

22. The memory of 9-11 can't fade, even if we wanted it to, Sir.
After 911, I wanted to sign up -- either to the military, or to help out in the reconstruction. (Of Afghanistan.) Thank GOD, I was too old, barely, or I might be dead by now.

On the day itself, I remember listening to Alana Davis's, "Rest of Yesterday" as I headed to my coffee shop where I learned of the attack from my business partner.

I understood that the attack was largely a self-inflicted mess (probably by omission), but I also knew that Bin-Laden and Co. needed to be stopped before they did any more damage.

I remember being extremely relieved that Grown-ups like Colin Powell were very near the centers of power.

I remember being entirely distracted from my main line of work in software design. Functionally, we had the day off -- and a good chunk of the next one, too. With the airlines shut down, our lead tech-support person was stranded in Denver.

I remember fears of a small-pox epidemic and of an anthrax attack via crop dusters. I remember buying the plastic sheeting and the duct tape. (Yes, I am that suggestible. Besides, it gets cold here in the winter, so may as well save on the energy.) In light of these fears, I remember performing "Mother and Father's Prayer" at church.

I remember the anthrax attacks via US mail.

I remember the outpouring of world sympathy and support.

I remember your line "...who profane a great Religion." and was heartened that you, our president, would protect our civil rights. (I was wrong about a lot of things then.)

I remember your theatrical "Bull-horn" moment. (was it fun?)

I remember our local community prayer service, even if I wasn't there.

I'm sorry, Mr. President, it's very easy to remember what life was like right after 9-11. It was a time of sad, but clear, determination. It was a time of worry, but also of understanding that some things had to change. It was a time of introspection and soul-searching. It was a serious time, because it was clear that we were about to send some of our own sons and daughters to their early deaths to make sure that Bin Laden the Taliban couldn't do this again.

In a way, I felt a terrible kinship with my departed grandparents and great-grandparents who must have felt a similar dreadful imperative in the wake of Peal Harbor. You just don't forget those kinds of moments.

So, please don't insult us by saying that we don't remember what it was like after 9-11. It was a day of death, with the promise of more to follow.

Not on that day. It was the days that followed and our "fearless" leaders obsession with it that could have caused embarrassment.

26. There was a lot to be embarassed about.
90% Bush approval ratings.

Clear Channel banning "hippie music."

Afghanistan and Iraq.

All the maudlin shit.

Jack-in-the-Box commercials featuring "Jack" driving around the country in Dodge Viper, asking people to feel good again and buy a burger.

Ground Zero t-shirts.

9-11 memorials on everybody's shitty pre-blog website.

Really fucking hideous artwork.

Islamophobia.

The banning of comedy for about three months.

Flags on all the cars. A dozen flags on every pick-up truck. "God bless America" flags with pictures of the American flag on them.

Toby Keith.

South Park 9-11 episode.

"Everything's different now."

I could go on.

24. I remember. I think everybody in DC and New York remembers vividly
I remember watching the smoke going up from the Pentagon. I remember watching the towers pancake down on a small portable TV. I remember the traffic jam getting out of DC, it took 4 hours to get home. I remember having to go to work the next day with National Guard troops on every corner. I remember how quickly they came up with the names and pictures of those they thought were responsible for the attacks, and how I wondered how they came up with the names and pics of them so quickly. I remember what a nice crisp fall day it was. Don't tell me I don't remember, I still remember like it was yesterday.

However, I have moved on from that, as I think most people have. You can't dwell on it, and I have moved on. I still work in DC. But it doesn't mean I have forgotten.

27. I remember. Everyone was going fuckn nuts
Who should we kill? Duct Tape on the windows. Wearing lapel pins. Star spangled banners everywhere. 24/7 coverage of smoke at ground zero. No critical thought. No analysis. Fear everywhere. Fear of the fear and irrationality. Chicken little became real. Country songs about 9/11. Warnings. Terror alerts.

Insanity.

Its not an excuse for his failure. Its an insane state they created on purpose. And I fucking started hating him and this country for it. 7 years later I left it, and its sickness, behind for good. Go to hell Bush

30. I remember what life was like right after 9/11
I remember Bush reading a book in Florida while thousands of Americans died.

I remember the EPA claiming the air was safe around the WTC site when those of us working there knew full well it was toxic.

I remember how Bozo and Darth claimed Iraq was involved with 9/11 when only a total idiot could be dumb enough to beleive them.

And I remember how New York, the entire US and the world rallied to our side...

And I remember how Bush and Co threw it all away so they could pursue an insane invasion against a country that had nothing to do with attacking us, and let bin Laden escape capture.

Oh, yes. I remember.

39. yes, I remember clearly thinking after the 2nd plane hit, "Bush had something to do with this"
Seven years later, I am still absolutely certain of that.

If he didn't actively plan it, he and his scumball war-mongering greed-head pals did nothing at all to avert it, to avoid it, or to bring to justice those who were responsible.

I remember his phony bullshit about doing whatever it would take to "get to the bottom of this," then, when it came time to really investigate, he stonewalled, wouldn't provide papers, and finally testified behind closed doors while Cheney held his hand and pulled his strings. When the "official report" was finally released, he had torn 26 pages out of it. Gee, fuckwad, are you finally going to explain any of this in your comic book?

Anybody who would actually buy this "book" needs to seek relief for a huge hemorrhoid in place of his or her brain.
