1. To them "elite" is anyone who knows more than they do.
To us (and most of the fucking world with a brain) "elite" is a social status...of which nearly all of us will never ever ever ever obtain.

Never let the right redefine language. They have tried.

4. Well there is something here.
It seems they are going to try and attach democratic thoughtful action as elite in 2010 and 2012. Need a democratic push, not to bring the people who have spent many years working on areas down in expertise. But need to spend time bringing average people up.

If possible areas of the 70% that rarely pay attention should be moved into with the basics of what a government is, what freedom is. And every mind glazing complex explanation should also have a lead in with a bit of the basics. Without sounding like they are being talked down to. Unfortunately one of the reactions to learning you didn't understand something is ego protection of calling the others some name like uppity or something. analogies or historical examples work ok sometimes.

Just a thought, but bringing the 'group' Bush is talking to, up to the thinking level, is better then having future elected leaders go down to the no thinking level, we see where that leads us.

Maybe some shows on history channel that include the basics of why we have a government or something like that. Or discovery channel showing how marketing can get you to believe things that are not real.

The more the people think, and the more information they have, the more likely decisions will be supported that help more, not less, people.

Just a thought. I didn't watch his speech, but if he smirked when he said elite, there is a plan behind it he is not mentioning.

The elite of America, the middle class, know when they were lied to and taken advantage of, they know the meaning of the greatness America has been, and will be again. And like the elite best soldiers they will come back, because Americans are elite, experts, professionals, and the best at every challenge they have faced.

And like the best soldiers, the most compassionate of communities, and the with the highest standing of americas best, the American that are the elite middle class of the world, the American factory workers, service employees, civil employees, and thousands that help and volunteer to make the world better for neighbors here and elsewhere, will be the best that has exemplified what America has been, and will be again.

LOL, ok this is a bit tongue and cheek, but really think it is Orwellian when doing something thoughtful and correct is criticized by some social label just because that label has negative emotion attached to it.

I'm a bit Tired, and I find this humorous, not sure why, maybe the irony of how Bush tries to insult people with a label that has so many different meanings, is funny.

LOL

6. Well, the only elite that he DOESN'T belong to...
is that of intellect. So he resents and sneers at intellectuals (or anyone more intellectual than himself, which is not hard to be).
