Congressman says atheism is damaging
Lincoln Diaz-Balart, a Florida Congressman, went and saw a Divine Performing Arts show and had this to say about the show’s meaning:

The fact is, some things are eternal, and no matter what the difficulties in this life the truth will prevail, and mankind cannot be destroyed.
<snip>
He goes on:

I was very moved by the song that talked about the damage that atheism has caused and is causing. It was very moving…. The songs carry the sense that evil will not prevail, and so the message is that the truth ultimately prevails…. These times will pass because eternal truth will survive atheism and the difficulties of the 20th Century.

In other words, atheism is evil and damaging society and “eternal truth” will prevail. And this is a Congressman!

5. well now there's the low end of stupidity for you
He is exactly who the high priests want on their side: an idiot who believes in "absolute truth", or any absolute in human context, for that matter.

How about this Congressman: I want to believe in god. Give me some evidence that one of those gods does better parlor tricks than any of the other ones, and I'll sign right up.

If it turns out I picked the wrong jokester, and I end up in front of the pearly gates I promise you I will be standing in judgement of that capricious petty vindictive wannabe god of the christians, I will outright demand to be boiled alive for all eternity if Allah or Yaweh are up there smiting people for eating shellfish and pork, and most of all I have some words for Mr. Jesus too, Mr. Mohammad, Mr. Buddha, and any other "prophet" whose followers are happy to interpret for the rest of us, and perpretrate evil in the name of good.

Go fuck all of yourselves you mighty petty gods.

7. Wow, there's a bunch of incoherent rambling....
And I wonder why Congress makes so many stupid decisions. If that's what passes for "thought" among our fearless leaders, I'm now surprised we've lasted this long.
