Although applied mostly to drug traffickers, F&S has been used in non-drug-related crimes.

It seems to me Madoff could've had his assets seized so he couldn't make bail. That is, if we're really serious about F&S...

He has already found a new prison in his mind. For anyone with human decency, I'd have to imagine it's an unbearably torturous weight, knowing that your crimes have ruined thousands of lives and led to suicides.

18. In Time He Will Be...

As usual, trial by corporate media trumps the real judicial system...and it appears some here don't understand how the process works or the basic concept of "innocent until proven guilty". Just cause the teevee says it, doesn't mean its true.

If Madoff "made off" with all that money...especially "well-connected" money, this dude's future isn't a very pleasant one. A case like this one isn't easy to crack as a lot of the money still isn't accounted for, and it could take months or longer for that to happen. However, be it criminal or civil or a combination of the two, Madoff's looking at a bleak future either spending the rest of his life in jail or constantly in court fighting suits from former clients.

Personally, I think his "home incarceration" is a joke...and if he is to remain free on bond that he does it in another location...a safe house or hotel. The rub here is so far we have an arrest yet no real indictment yet...we don't know the extent of the charges, but we will soon. He will be going to trial and then let's see what the evidence shows. If he's guilty, his future digs will be far less accomodating than the one he's in now.
