Karl Rove: Bush "has, and should have, the gratitude of all Americans" for keeping US safe

http://foxforum.blogs.foxnews.com/2009/01/12/asseenon_rove/

KARL ROVE, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR/FORMER BUSH SENIOR ADVISER AND DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF: That was the President Bush I’ve known for 30 some odd years {speaking at his final press conference on Monday, Jan. 12}. I had dinner last night with him and he was revved up about going out this morning and having news conference and letting it all hang out. And he did.

He is a person who is focused on the here and now and the action. And, you know, four years ago, this is sort of the introspection that members of the press love to ask about. What did you do wrong? Well, his focus was on what do I need to do right in the months ahead.

This is a person who, behind-the-scenes, is very reflective. Who’s very curious and very tough in asking good questions of the people that work for him and work around him. And let’s return to, for a second, to what his mindset was. I think it was the mindset of a lot of Americans. We were wondering after September 11 whether we were going to be hit again. And he knew it was his responsibility to keep the country safe. And that has been his all consuming passion for the last seven years — is to make certain that the institutions, structures and policies are in place to keep America safe and it’s worked. And for that he has, and should have, the gratitude of all Americans.

1. Right. Bush sure did keep us safe. Except for that little thing on 9/11/2001.
But that was no biggie. :eyes:

7. he also prevented earthquakes and tsunamis. we're so ungrateful.
I hate to wish harm to anyone, and as long as no-one got hurt, I would almost be glad to see an alquaida attack before Obama takes office. it's the only thing that these assholes are still claiming success about. they shouldn't get away with it.

If he deserves credit for keepin us safe since September 11, he deserves an equal or greater amount of blame for letting it happen.

better job (he actually caught the guys responsible and put them in prison).

About the same percent that emerge from the Bush years as multi-billionaires.
The other 75% believe Bush should be in prison.

How in the hell did he "keep us safe"?

Saying we should start counting on Sept. 12th is more than a little ridiculous. Why should we only count the days after 9-11? Because he wasn't serious about it before that? Are were really supposed to just brush off those 3000 dead people and give him a do over because he wasn't paying attention before then? What a joke.

Oh wait; my friend's office at the World Trade Center doesn't exist anymore. What was that you were saying about keeping America safe, Mr. Rove? Or did you mean you and your political cronies when you said "America"?

21. People's economic safety is every bit as important as some imagined threat.
No one dropped a nuke on us under Clinton either and Clinton still kept us economically sound with very little to fear. Can't say that about Bush*.

24. They lie, twist , spin and distort.
Like when Bush "wins" by 51% it's a "mandate". Mandate, my ass. A mandate is when you win 80/20. He did NOT keep us safe. 9/11 happened on Bush's watch and it didn't happen the day after he was inaugurated. The hole in lower Manhattan is still there and as horrible as 9/11 is/was, the holes Bush ripped in our Constitution after 9/11 are even worse.

25. Can someone explain to me how we know there were to be more hits?
They keep saying Bush kept us safe. Safe from what? Do they have a count? Proof there were more attacks that they stopped before they happened? Are they talking about the shoe bomber? That was a passenger that turned him in, right? Bush had nothing to do with him.

I'd like to see a count.

29. I Feel More Safe - NOT
Hmmm, whose was on watch when 9-11 happened? Anthrax, just a minor problem. Katrina, cost to repair too expensive (just a fraction of the made up emergency that created the Wall Street bailout).

At least we don't have to worry about other countries hating us for our freedom after the Patriot Act.
