We had family planning to come and stay with us for the week. We had all planned to go to the Mall and just *be there* as part of history.

One couple canceled a week ago. The second couple canceled today. They will both come visit, but not for the inauguration. The word about the size of the crowd is the reason. We all knew it would be crowded and a real hassle. But now that estimates are upwards of five million, it got to be too much to consider. We're not young. The notion of being packed like sardines in an outdoor area where, if we should need help, we could be stranded and locked in for hours is actually a little scary.

We'll be watching teevee and Skyping.

I really, really, really wanted to be there. To just stand there and breathe it all in. But with just Sparkly and me ...... nope. Too scary and, honestly, too risky.

1. They've cut the estimate way down

because a lot of people decided to do the same thing. Now they're saying more like 2 million plus or minus.

2. I hear ya! There's no way I could do it in my present condition.

Even if I weren't on the other side of the country I just couldn't do it.

It'll still be one hell of a good PARTY day though!! :D

3. I'm Dubious About The Estimates For The Reason You Mentioned...

I think a lot of folks will be scared off by the crowd size estimates. I would be surprised if there are 2 million or more.

4. Yup, estimates are way down. But they have no way on knowing
