Just finished watching An Inconvenient Truth.
It was very informative, and Gore's delivery was sincere, heartfelt, passionate, and humorous. Why wasn't he like this before 2000? Granted I was a kid during the Clinton administration, so I may have missed something, but where was this amiable personality during the 2000 election?

1. Campaign handlers
They fucked up both Gore and Kerry by preventing them from attacking the GOP on their obvious weakness: Stupid.

They're not limited to Democratic campaigns. I remember seeing Dole on some late night show after his defeat and wondering where the intelligent and witty man had been on the campaign trail.

Anybody who aspires to higher office would do well to avoid them like the plague they are.

3. McCain too...
He was like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon during his concession speach, I was actually impressed. I remember telling the wife that we might have been sunk if this was the guy that had been out on the campaign trail the whole time.

4. It was the same corporate media brain washing technique used later

to convince 70+% of the American People in to believing Saddam Hussein was behind 9/11 in spite of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary, just repeat a lie long enough and it will take hold.

Such is the power of the mass one way corporate media to color the American People's sense of reality, when virtually all of them read from the same script.

The main point to keep in mind is that 90+% of the corporate media voices get their pay checks from the same handful of corporations and they're not paid to think or opinion-ate out side of the box, particularly when it matters the most.

I don't believe Al Gore has changed his personality in any fundamental way since he first became a Congressman, he just took his job seriously.

The corporate media didn't want serious and they didn't like the Internet's growing power and influence, so Al Gore was caricatured because he did believe in empowering the people's voice via the Internet.
