White Hot Rage by Cindy Sheehan
I am outraged that Congress expediently buys into Bush’s evil rhetoric that voting to cut off the funding will not be supporting the troops! THE TROOPS AREN’T GETTING THE MONEY! Blackwater security agents make more in two days in Iraq than our troops do in a month. Blackwater security agents are better equipped and armored than our troops. Our troops are dying guarding pipelines and Halliburton convoys.

I am angry for 3200 other wonderful lives cut short like Casey’s and I am angry that hundreds of thousands of Iraqis are dead, because L. Paul did his job of increasing the insurgency well and was rewarded handsomely for it.

The people who say I am angry are correct. I am also angry that there is not sufficient fury in this country to get our citizens to demand that Congress pull back the money from the war profiteers and bring our troops home.

I am especially enraged that BushCo are still in power: reigning free to commit any crimes impervious to all slings and arrows. I am sick of waiting for the time when BushCo’s “Get out of jail free” card expires.

When will the nightmare end? I suspect never, as long as the Military Industrial Complex is running roughshod over every branch of our government with the silent complicity of the American public.

2. Explain something to me..
I have never heard before that Bremer's goal was to increase the insurgency. I thought he did it through faulty decision-making and bad leadership. What would be the purpose in wanting an insurgency?

This is a new concept to me.

3. Always ask: who benefits?
The answer is, the war profiteers. The Halliburtons, the Blackwaters, the military industrial complex in general benefits.

Funny how the "faulty decision-making" and "bad leadership" always ends up with the same result: more war and chaos. You'd think, for example, that we might have considered guarding the largest armory in Iraq when it was liberated. Think again: we left it wide open, and that had to work towards an open ended insurgency, since it ensured they would be well armed from the gate.

You are right, this is not something that can be proven. And Cindy Sheehan is speculating on motivation. But, if you look at the whole picture, I think that Ms. Sheehan has it exactly right.

6. Thank you for explaining
it is past vile to want war and chaos for profit. But I suppose there is a long, long history of our species doing just that.

4. I'm outraged by republican obstructionists
Not by the Democrats who forged and voted for this compromise withdrawal bill. They didn't 'buy into' anything. They crafted a withdrawal bill which directs money to areas which republicans have neglected for years while they funneled billions into Iraq.

Murtha:

"Emergency supplemental bill focuses on military readiness and troop wellness”

The emergency supplemental appropriations bill provides more than was requested by the President for our troops and veterans. Significant increases are added to address military readiness and force protection equipment shortfalls, and service members’ health and housing needs. The bill provides an additional $1.2 billion to re-focus our efforts in Afghanistan, where al Qaeda and the Taliban are regrouping.

The bill also includes money that the President did not request for the health and well-being of our war fighter. This includes: $450 million for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder/Counseling; $450 million for Traumatic Brain Injury care and research; $730 million to offset the Administration’s insurance premium increase to our troops and their families; $62 million for amputee care for our returning war fighters; $14.8 million for burn care; and provides funding for the creation of a new program that will provide support for those who are taking care of our severely wounded in military hospitals around the world.

“As Americans, we have a responsibility to ensure that our men and women in uniform, who have sacrificed so much in this time of war, receive the care they rightfully deserve,” added Murtha.

8. You're not?
If your not outraged your not paying attention or don't have a very in-depth understanding of how this political system functions and for whom it functions.

9. If you're consistantly outraged,
then you must have either the memory or the predictive skills of a goldfish.

I really can't understand how one could be outraged over the state of American politics. I really don't. I mean, it's not like you're just finding out about this shit. If you only just learned that politics is the entertainment branch of industry, I can see being outraged. But really, how could you be outraged at anything now?

Take the AG scandal. Bush tried to politicize the DoJ? No shit; you don't say. It is certainly shocking that Bush would attempt to politicize our government. I mean, it's not like he's never done anything like that before, right?

Or take Democratic refusal to take the CODEPINK position. Really, if you expected the Democrats to vote like it were a DU poll just because they suggested they might before the election, you really oughtn't be lecturing anyone on their understanding of our political process. On the other hand, if you expected them to take a more measured, moderate approach...then what on Earth are you outraged about? How could anyone be outraged about something so painfully predictable?

11. Perhaps our definition of "outrage" differs since I've been outraged for years.
And my memory is mostly fine and I have more predictive skills than a goldfish does. Continually and continuously outraged. Outrage doesn't have to be about something new. Predictability has little to do with outrage. Outrageous actions do.

15. If you don't care, then why the hell are you here on DU?!
The way I look at it, DU is here for us to vent our WHITE HOT RAGE and to find like minds so that we can do something about the bullshit that is being heaped upon the good people of this country every damn day! Not only that, but it is OUR MORAL AND ETHICAL DUTY to show the powers that be that we all aren't all buying into or willing to put up with the lies they try and spoon feed us every night on teevee!

Sorry, but I will not go along quietly and complacently with the crimes on humanity that are being committed on a daily basis in this country! No fucking way! :grr:
