The Waaah It's Cold Thread
It's -11 and feels like -31 with wind chill. I'm in south-central Illinois, so I'm sure some people here can beat that. C'mon, make me feel warm by comparison!

maybe I can retire it again.

14. It's currently -27 in my part of WI
with an expected wind chill of between -35 to -50. I'm seriously considering staying home from work today. My office building was without heat yesterday, until 3pm and I swear I have frostbite. I'm bettin the furnace has stopped again and I am really not looking forward to freezing again today. The heating system can not be repaired, old and no parts available and a complete system has to be installed and who the F knows when that will be.

fleece hoodie
my down coat
bf's down coat

Don't know what's happening here, MD/DC, school-wise,

BUT:

'Just arriving for Inauguration Weekend? Well, welcome to Washington. You made it just in time for the coldest day in about a decade. Fortunately, while traffic will only get worse, the weather will slowly warm starting tomorrow. If you're lucky, you might see some snowflakes during your stay, but no big storm to worry about for Inauguration Day.

Today (Friday): Wind is our enemy. With highs already struggling to reach 20, winds from the northwest around 15 mph will make you forget the sun is shining. Wind chill values will likely be stuck in the single digits all day long. Bundle up with the warmest your wardrobe has to offer. Heck, break out the thermals if you have 'em. Confidence: High

Tonight: Mostly clear with calming winds but lows in the mid-to-upper single digits downtown and low single digits in the suburbs. As we noted before, this is essentially the coldest air we've had in about 10 years. Confidence: High'

56. Washington, DC Inauguration Forecast:

There's little doubt left it's going to be a cold day. Temperatures will probably start the day in the 20s, rising to around freezing (plus or minus a few degrees) for the swearing in, and then maxing out around the mid-30s mid-afternoon (plus or minus a few degrees).

The wild card is the possibility of a fast-moving disturbance rippling through the region and producing considerable cloudiness along with some light snow or flurries. As this disturbance hasn't even formed yet, it's too early to predict its timing and how much snow, if any, it will produce. Stay tuned.
