Homeless Need Convincing To Seek Shelter From Cold

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Outreach workers spent Thursday night trying to convince homeless men and women to come to shelters to escape below-zero temperatures.

Convincing the homeless to seek shelter is not an easy job, despite the dangerously cold weather, 10TV's Brittany Westbrook reported.

Brian Hall with Maryhaven spoke to Jay Battin and Michele Weber, who were camped out in local woods planning to sleep in sleeping bags next to a campfire.

"I hate to have her out here, but this is where we live," Battin said. "This is where we live."

Hall does not want it to be where they die.

Many of them do not want to go to shelters because they are not permitted to drink alcohol or do drugs there.
