Traditions.

I'm not a very good writer, so I'm not going to carry on too much here, But...

I DO want to say something about 'traditions'. I have lived in suburban Chicago for most of my life (with various diversons in where I lived in Ohio, Massachusetts, New Hampshire AND overseas in Hong Kong).

Christmas in Chicago. Was the Walnut Room at MARSHALL FIELDS for *me*. A quality dress could be purchased at MARSHALL FIELDS. If you wanted great bakery goods, it was MARSHALL FIELDS. It *WAS* the best of the best....and MACY's *corporatocracy* helped destroy all of that goodness.

I hate Macy's. I don't/won't shop there. I give all my business to a GREAT FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS still slugging it out there!

1. I grew up in Chicago and remember their Holiday Window Displays.

We would take the "L" downtown every year and make a day of it...thanks for the memory.:)

2. They did the same thing to Daniel's & Fisher in Denver. The May company bought it

and preserved much of the class and traditions as May D&F, but then it was absorbed into the Borg.

Interestingly, one of my best friends was a native New Yorker and said that Macy's itself used to be like that but was taken over by the MBA Borg in the 80s, and that's why it sucks so hard now.
