From LBN: Man accused in Miss. of threat to president-elect
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x3694193

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A Wisconsin man has been arrested in Mississippi for threats he allegedly made against President-elect Barack Obama on the Internet.

Steven Joseph Christopher, 42, was arrested Friday by the Secret Service in Brookhaven, Miss., and was charged with threatening to assassinate Obama for what he claimed was "the country's own good," according to federal prosecutors. The criminal complaint was sealed until Christopher's appearance in federal court.

Judge James C. Sumner ordered Christopher held until a bail hearing next Thursday. Sumner suggested Christopher be held in isolation for his own safety.

6. Here:
How can I report a threat towards a protectee?

Contact your nearest U.S. Secret Service field office which is listed in the "Emergency Numbers" section in the front of most phone books.

The Secret Service is interested in legitimate information relating to threats, plans or attempts by individuals, groups or organizations to harm Secret Service protectees. However, the agency does not desire or solicit information pertaining to individuals or groups expressing legitimate criticism of, or political opposition to, the policies and decisions of the government or government officials.

11. Great idea! This was new information to me, and I'm sure many others would find it helpful.
The recording says they are closed but if it is urgent, you can press "0" and be connected to a field officer immediately. That guy sounds like a sick f-ck. Perhaps nothing will happen, but better to look into it than to ignore it.

16. Yeah, that was pretty blatant. Especially the post from yesterday saying
that all the pieces were in place. This guy should be visted by the men in black and sat down for a very detailed conversation.

17. He has a long history of them.
I think they're reluctant to haul him in because his followers are crazy, and it's easier to keep an ear on them if they're all calling in/using his forums to express their crazy shit instead of going to ground.

18. Have his previous blog posts had such specific events that he was threatening?
Did he make similar comments to the DNC or campaign stops? This seems very site/date specific.

22. He pulls this crap a lot.
Use the google. You'll see MANY past examples of very specific threats to anybody who has pissed him off.

14. It makes me sad...
to know that I work with people who likely feel exactly how Hal Turner does. They spout off all the time about how Obama isn't a citizen, blah blah blah. The only thing they don't do is threaten him. But the fact that their thought process is even remotely close to this nutjob's line of thinking is saddening to me.

21. I've heard of him...
It was revealed a year or two ago that Sean Hannity used to be good buddies with Hal Turner and appeared on his radio show. Hannity denies it and has denounced Turner. But here's the catch. Turner claimed to have audio recordings of Hannity's appearance on his show from so long ago. But he wanted liberals to have to pay for the destruction of Hannity's career (being on a white supremacist's radio show would effectively end Hannity's career at Fox News and his nationwide radio show). He wanted $100,000 from liberals in order to release the tape. Of course, nobody bothered with his ransom. But I do think he was telling the truth. He was pissed that Hannity was throwing him under the bus and I have no doubt that Hannity is every bit the nasty racist that Hal Turner is.

Now that you mention it, the Hannity thing sounds a little familiar.

28. Yeah...
I don't know if you've seen that young African American professor who occasionally appears on O'Reilly and Hannity's shows fairly often, but he's the one who brought it up. He threw it in Hannity's face while Hannity was trying to attack Obama and Wright. Totally owned Hannity. It reminded me of when Hannity was attacking Obama for Ayers after one of the debates. Robert Gibbs (incoming White House press secretary BTW) quickly turned it around on him because Hannity interviewed an anti-Semite for one of his Fox News hit jobs on Obama. Gibbs kept asking Hannity if he was anti-Semitic and Hannity was yelling at the top of his lungs about how he had denounced it, etc. Kinda proved Gibbs' point perfectly. Obama denounced Ayers, yet Hannity and his ilk decided to play guilt by association. And yet Hannity is hanging around with anti-Semites but it's "not fair" to play the same guilt by association game against him? Total fucking hypocrite, as usual.

30. Confused
I'm a bit confused. The first post says the man has been arrested, then posts after that are asking who they need to contact to report him? This doesn't make sense - are there two different people?
