No Pardons, No Immunity, No Amnesty. Fair Trials.
.

If we the people allow a whitewash of the abuses of the past eight years, we’ll guarantee that they will happen again!

In his column Mr Paul Krugman writes a good piece. We must keep the pressure on. The 'power' people in Washington (GOP and Democratic Party) want to sweep the past eight years under the rug. This we cannot allow.

Forgive and Forget? By PAUL KRUGMAN

"Last Sunday President-elect Barack Obama was asked whether he would seek an investigation of possible crimes by the Bush administration. “I don’t believe that anybody is above the law,” he responded, but “we need to look forward as opposed to looking backwards.” ..."

"...Now, it’s true that a serious investigation of Bush-era abuses would make Washington an uncomfortable place, both for those who abused power and those who acted as their enablers or apologists. And these people have a lot of friends. But the price of protecting their comfort would be high: If we whitewash the abuses of the past eight years, we’ll guarantee that they will happen again.

Meanwhile, about Mr. Obama: while it’s probably in his short-term political interests to forgive and forget, next week he’s going to swear to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.” That’s not a conditional oath to be honored only when it’s convenient.

And to protect and defend the Constitution, a president must do more than obey the Constitution himself; he must hold those who violate the Constitution accountable. So Mr. Obama should reconsider his apparent decision to let the previous administration get away with crime. Consequences aside, that’s not a decision he has the right to make. "

No pardons, no immunity, no amnesty.

1. What about the murdered POWs?? Have we forgotten already?
I see us concerned for the tortured as we should be, and seeking justice. But have we forgot that there are 23 murdered POWs that justice must visit? Where is the outrage? And by the way, the autopsy reports of the two hung and beaten in Afghanistan were done by the military themselves, citing beatings & be hung by the feet while being beaten. Every country has a military leader responsible for the actions of the military, and in America that is CIC Bush. He will need more than a pardon to escape justice.

=======
On May 21, 2004, a US Department of Defense press conference addressed concerns about the deaths of prisoners in Iraq and Afghanistan.<6> The Department released 23 death certificates that were incomplete and fell far short of standard medical practice or the requirements of the Geneva Convention (Figure 1).
