NEW YORK – Rachel Maddow has reached a new agreement with Air America Media to extend her tenure with the company’s Radio Network and Interactive Division. “The Rachel Maddow Show” will air as a one-hour program to be presented in morning drive time on the network’s affiliates and streamed on airamerica.com.

“Rachel is a unique talent with an unlimited future,” said Air America CEO Bennett Zier. “We are delighted that Air America remains her radio home.”

“We’re elated with Rachel’s continued commitment to Air America,” added SVP/Programming Bill Hess. “As millions of Americans now know, Rachel has become a breakout star and our affiliates and listeners will continue to benefit from her wit, intelligence and insight.”

1. Which means that Rachel won't be heard in the NYC market.

WWRL, the flagship station, has its own morning drivetime host and likely won't cede to AAR for the programming.

2. Her current two-hour radio show is 50% last night's MSNBC repeat.

I wonder if her one-hour show will be 100% last night's MSNBC repeat.

She is an excellent radio host. On TV she doesn't say things she would have said on the radio. It's obvious she's on a shorter leash, but I guess that's the price we pay for her fame.

3. I'm enjoying her TV show much better now that she isn't bashing Obama..

every night. I know that works for some. But for me it's a ginormous turn off. I had turned her off for a while because of that.

the moment Rick Warren was chosen to pray on inauguration day.

7. True. Seems to me that after that bru ha ha, she's chilled a bit. I don't

think that she is not supposed to criticize Obama..EVER..I just don't want to hear it on a nightly basis. If that's what I wanted, I watch FAUX News.

Randi Rhodes (sp?) get a spot on tv. She's really outspoken and even kinda rude. It would be interesting.

6. I podcast it and listen to it on the way home from work

So what time it airs doesn't matter to me. She's got he one hour forumla down pat - News from Iraq, 2 quest interviews and Ask Dr. Maddow. I hope that stays the same. And her radio interviews are often more indepth and candid than TV.
