Edited on Sat Jan-17-09 02:06 PM by NNN0LHI
Obama can and should be talking just as sweet as he needs to be until he takes the reigns of power. Just get that Nuclear Football away from the poop throwing, pretzel choking monkey and the whole world and I will be breathing easier. We all should be.

I can recognize when a bullet misses me and I think we all just dodged one.

But yes there will be some paybacks for what the Republicans have done to this country and the way they did it. May not be as obvious as some would want it to be (and thats good) but that doesn't mean there won't be some harsh repercussions coming the Republicans way real soon. Life changing repercussions.

Promise.

Don

1. Anybody who confuses the rule of law with paybacks doesn't understand the rule of law.

5. When the dismissal of "the rule of law" is followed by the rule of law
..payback is inevitable.

9. So you believe that holding someone accountable for violating the law is
"paying them back" for breaking the law?

See, i have to disagree. I don't see enforcing the law as 'paying someone back.'

I don't see laws serving revenge. In fact one of the points of having laws is to lesson the need for revenge. People don't need to carry out revenge when they have faith that justice can be served through the courts.

14. You don't huh?
Why do they allow victims families to witness the execution of their murder then? If that isn't "law as revenge" I don't know what is.

21. I say investigate and find out how the executive branch went so rotten. Then
hold the ring leaders accountable and give the lower echelon co-conspirators probation with a way to rehab back to civilized society.

Lets not ban the Baathists

3. We need to track any and all movements, and employment of high officials
of the bush junta. If they go to work for Time Warner, we boycott them. If they go to work for Sara Lee, we boycott them. If we find they are going to Italy, we notify human rights officials in that country. Never let them rest until they are put before a judge.

4. President Obama will need cooperation from a Congress that has less than
60 assured votes on the Senate side. Millions of people need help with their jobs and keeping their houses. The last thing Obama needs is a vendetta where partisan lines are drawn in the sand over payback and nothing gets done to help the millions who need help. Reality is a harsh mistress.

11. I don't want payback. I want order and legitimate govt restored.
Edited on Sat Jan-17-09 02:52 PM by kenny blankenship
And that's going to require a full excavation of the truth. Some people are definitely going to jail in that case, and others are going to be faced with jail time, in order to get them to tell what they know.

If the Reign of Terror and War goes uninvestigated and unpunished it will certainly happen again, maybe just 4 years from Tuesday, only it will probably be worse the next time.

It's because I worry about this country's future that I am for full investigation, wherever it may lead. People who are "backward looking" would accuse me of wanting revenge. They just don't fucking get it, and their complacency and inaction is EXACTLY why we are in the shit soup we find ourselves in today.

12. Its not an either/or thing
We can still have order and legitimate govt restored plus pay these scum back for what they did to Max Cleland (turned him into a terrorist) and John Kerry (swiftboated him into oblivion).

One doesn't cancel out the other.

13. Bullshit, Dems are too nice, they want to be allow bi-partisanship something the fucking republicans
Edited on Sat Jan-17-09 04:18 PM by GreenTea
would NEVER consider...

Like Clinton stupidly being nice and not prosecuting republican law breakers in the Reagan-Bush administration and the filthy republicans still hounded and beat up Clinton every chance they got, even made up shit to fuck Clinton over even more...

Not to mention by Clinton not prosecuting the republican criminals (Iran-Contra, S&L rip-offs, etc.) the same Reagan-Bush criminals just started up where they left off when "W" stole the presidency and for eight years have destroyed this country and Obama now wants to let them go free as well?

What the fuck, that's teaching the republicans a lesson? Only to continue doing it again & again, and why not the the republicans know the Democratc presidents will let them slide and always will.

And the slimy republicans will stab Obama in the back too, constantly harassing Obamas polices, agenda & personal life - Just as they did Clinton as the republicans thanks for letting them off the hook...

The republican don't have any integrity or scruples what so ever, they are nothing more than vindictive, ugly, evil, wicked, greedy creatures!

But the stupid, nice-nice, frightened Democrats...just don't count on them for any payback or justice concerning the republicans...even though we the people, the tax payers, are fucking angry and want the republicans to pay back and put in prisons for their lies & crimes!!
