They stole from us in 2000.
In 2004, we knew that we were being pushed around, and no one would stand up for us except for us.
There was still too much to steal, and they needed four more years to steal it.
That's when I came to DU because frankly, I had lost ALL hope.

In 2007 and 2008 we realized that we had to do this on our own.
We had this skinny black guy with a weird name and a message, and we really (c,mon, it's true) were reaching for the stars.
I had people LAUGH in my face when I said that this was the guy who would take my country back for me.
For us.
He was "THAT ONE".
And now, the stars are shining down on us.
We did it America.
We did it DU.
George W. Bush and Dick Cheney will be gone very, very, soon.

It's such a bright, sunny, happy, shiny, historic day.

8 long fucking, fucked up years. I protested at both of Bush's inaugurals, organized local anti-war protests, attended numerous huge anti-war marches in DC and NY, was a grassroots local leader for Dean, debated Busheviks, lost a couple friendships, wrote and published letters to the editor and articles critiqueing the Bush junta...so much more.

And now they're finally out of there. They should never have been in there. They shouldn't have been in there as long as they were. I have grave doubts that justice will prevail in holding these thugs and criminals accountable, and that saddens me.

But at least they're gone.

For a moment, I feel relief and celebrate.

Good riddance, Bush et al.
