1. I was asking that after the Grant Park gathering.
I couldn't find evidence of greater than 2-3 million.

2. And why is a large crowd with insufficient sanitation a good thing?
I simply do not understand.

5. People who are going to be there in person...

Please wear a diaper. You'll be glad you did!

On edit: I almost forgot-the best thing about wearing a diaper is that after you've peed and crapped in it, you can toss it at Bush as he's leaving!

6. There are literally thousands of porta potties lining the mall, and elsewhere.

This according to a friend who called me from a call phone while walking past them.

9. They need to have 40,000 porta potties for the expected crowds
They have 5,000.

That's 400 people to the pottie.

15. 400:1 ? Well, that sucks.

I guess a lot of businesses will be having customers crashing their potties. Which sucks for them too, of course.

:/

11. Sweetie, I was at Woodstock.
And there were many port-a-potties there, too. But you have no idea how inadequate that can be.

Five thousand for three million? Ten thousand? Twenty thousand? Yeah, that'll work.

20. They will have to pass a temporary law prohibiting certain bodily functions.

Yeah, it's going to be inadequate. Still, I heard that they are bringing in a lot more potties than they originally planned, so hopefully more are on the way.

16. There was a crowd expert on with David Shuster, and he was saying
how inadequate 5k porta potties is for the the size of the crowd expected. As David ended the segment, he announced that an additional 2,500 were on the way, and he let out a little HOORAH! Hopefully, the event planners are paying attention, and will increase the number. The crowd expert also made mention that it would be difficult for the trucks to get in to empty the porta potties, because of the crowd size.

19. I went to the Protest against bombing Iraq on
Feb 15, 2003 in NYC and we yelled and screamed for 7 hours with hundreds of thousands of people without once going to the loo.

You're sounding like a little neener nitpicker.

22. The most historic inauguration in our history, and you're obsessing over porta-potties?
I can't comprehend the smallness of thought on your part - have you not lived & suffered through the past 8 years?

29. WHAT has a large crowd with poor sanitation to do with that?
And why would suffering in the cold make the last eight years less awful?

As for the "smallness" of my thought...god save us from those who only see the big picture.

23. No
Sales of tickets for transport are slower than anticipated. My feeling ... it would just be too crowded, and I would be too far away to see.
Plus, it is going to be the coldest day of the week, or at least VERY cold.
TV, internet, etc etc., will be the largest audience ever for anything.

24. Yes I'm curious about that two. I heard on CNN they had the largest number of porto potties
ever set up. In the world. I don't know if that means the 3 Million will be the largest audience ever in one place. I'm crossing my fingers that it is so.
