Neb. man pleads no contest to beating dog (with golf club, had to be euthanized)

Marta and I have two rat terriers. How he could do this I have no idea. Since he is in the military a guilty conviction for a felony can be used for a dishonorable discharge.

PAPILLION, Neb. (AP) - A Bellevue man accused of beating his dog so badly it had to be euthanized has pleaded no contest.

Carson Smith appeared Friday in Sarpy County Court, entering the plea to a misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals.

Smith was charged in September after allegedly clubbing his rat terrier, Sam, in the head with a golf club when it wouldn't stop barking.

Smith faces up to a year in jail. His sentencing is scheduled for March.
