If Bush keeps vetoing the supplementary funds bills the Democrats send
up to him, won't that have the same effect as cutting off funds for the war in Iraq?

1. Yes. Too damn bad.
Dontcha love how he's trying to shame us? Keeps expecting the "American people" to rise up in defense of him.

2. Most important reason we needed the House
Aside from all of the investigations that can be started, of course, is that *all* appropriations and funding bills start in the House. Bush can cry and scream and stamp his feet all he wants, but, thankfully, he does *not* have the authority to initiate funds on his own. The House and Senate control the wallet and it's the House that starts the process.

8. the hue and cry will grow
that they are not doing as instructed. Cheney will call them all terrorists, communists, and child predators. bush will stamp his feet and make fists and scream that he wants it his way.

eventually they can send him one that comes real close except it includes a provision that billboards be put up all over the country that he is a lying duplicitous asshole, maybe a photo of him over momma bush's knee with her spanking his bare ass

tell him "sign this and you get to keep up your war"
then maybe his head will explode

10. A brilliant move by Dems
If he signs the bill, he agrees to an ending date for the
occupation. If he veto's the bill, he cuts off supplemental
spending. They put him in a Catch 22 (if it gets through the
Senate).
