Sully serves as a prime example of how courageous Americans can be when faced with calamity

His example shows the bravery, ingenuity, and steadfastness we all must find deep within ourselves as we face the unfathomable crisis left by the Bush Administration. AND.. let us not forget, he was a UNION member!!!

We ALL must simply rise to the occasion and GET THE JOB DONE.

3. . . . and he didn't lie to the passengers
Furthermore, his actions were absolutely necessary and he would not have done it just to show people he could.

4. Sully is a prime example of why you want the guy flying the plane to have...
intelligence, experience and training, and not just be the guy that it would be "more fun to have a beer with".

6. His professional life
has been dedicated to flying and to safety.

This is proof that you cannot learn too much, you cannot study too much, you cannot practice too much.

And, of course, he's had the union watching out for his interests. That helps.

I'm not sure it's so much courage, although that certainly was a major factor, as it was familiarity with the plane, and the smarts to know what to do. Couple those things with his incredible calm, and you have a hero.

He ought to get the first Presidential Medal of Freedom that President Obama hands out, don't you think?

7. Yes. He deserves it. Regarding courage...
Websters defines courage as: mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty

If that doesn't define what Sully did in the last moments of that flight, I don't know what does. A lesser man could have crumbled under the stress.
