BBC: Woman fined for eating crust
A Liverpool woman was to be charged with not being in control of her car after she was seen eating a crust of bread while she was driving.

1. Isn't it a felony to tear the tags off of pillows?

3. not if you eat them.

5. Like QuestionAll said above me, not if your the consumer.
I work retail and management mentions it once in a great while to make sure the tag that is sewn to the clothing with the type of material, cleaning instructions, and country of origin is still on the clothing. If they it is not we are supposed to deny the refund because we cannot resell the item and the company would be eating a loss. I've never actually seen a customer these tags off though.

As for the price tag that is attached with the little plastic thread, that usually only contains a price and a barcode for the cashiers to scan. It is annoying for us when the customer rips those of (and it happens quite often), but we can always reprint and reattach them.

2. The UK is looking more and more insane day after day....
And it's only illegal to tear off tags before you buy the mattress, right?

7. This being the UK
I think "eating a crust of bread" might be a local euphemism for something a bit more explicit
