When I look back at the last 8 years of this presidency it was a disaster. A failure of such dynamic proportions, I wonder if the U.S. will recover in my lifetime.
I'll be honest. I wish the Bush presidency had been a success for the whole country -- the whole world.
If it had been a rousing success that increased US standing abroad, that brought an economic boom to the US and the world, that had helped out the millions in need, that had really spread the principles of Democracy around the world I would have been okay with it.
Because, with every failure this administration had burdened us with, somebody (or many somebody's) out there are suffering or have suffered.
The failure in NOLA left many thousands displaced, many dead, sick and in many cases with absolutely nothing.
With every failure in his economic policies many thousands are left unemployed, underemployed, debt-ridden, destitute, victimized, in some cases homeless and in some cases just another dead body on the street.
With every failure of his foreign policy the US finds itself further alienated from much of the world at a time when the world needs to be brought together to deal with these serious crisis'.
With every failure we have another service member coming home injured, physically maimed and/or psychologically scarred. His foreign policy failures have seen 4000+ American Soldiers dead. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's dead and injured, not to mention the displaced Iraqi's around the Middle East.
With each failure in foreign policy finds another Sudan or Rwanda springing up around the globe.
With each failure in his environmental policy we get closer to losing many species of animals, the ice caps, the rainforests and much of the environment.
The list is too long to post all his failures. But with everyone people suffered. Not just his supporters, not just the wealthy, not just evil, awful people. But hundreds of thousands of millions of people are suffering and will continue to suffer, probably for decades because of the irresponsible way this administration performed its duties.
I don't find anything he did to be remotely amusing. Too many people have suffered and will continue to suffer as a result.
I am glad he is leaving, it's not a moment too soon. I just wish he had been a success because the price of his failure has just been too damned high.
