that I really liked talking with. He seemed entirely reasonable in every way. One evening he said "Do you listen to Rush Limbaugh?" I said "No, I don't like him." He said "One thing about Rush, he tells you the truth." I've never felt the same way about this guy, needless to say. He did not recognize that every day Rush spends a goodly portion of his air time telling you just how truthful he is. His rants do real damage and that should be recognized.

When dismissed as simple entertainment, Limbaugh truly becomes influential and dangerous.

I seem to recall Poppy having some ridiculous approval rating before losing in '92. People are fickle, especially in tough financial times. If Obama does anything of major significance (universal health care, major foreign policy initiatives, economic stimulus plans) many people will disagree with this or that detail and his approval rating will drop (Not to * levels, but at least down to 55%ish). Right now, almost everyone is in agreement that we need to do "something", but once something specific is actually proposed, you'll start hearing a lot more of the shit that these assclowns say.

It's true hate radio grew up under Clinton. But they had a lot of advantages. For one there was zero progressive radio to go against. For another the format was new and seemed interesting. The question is though is their audience growing or just growing old. In overall ratings these people remain a force, but among the younger demographics these people aren't that great a force.
