Does this look right to you here in mid-January?!1

Some of my trees are in bloom and there are honey bees buzzing all over the place!

:wtf:

Meanwhile, the Sierra snow pack continues to disappear up at Lake Tahoe.

Scary. :scared:

1. Must be nice..,my husband just got through
snowblowing that he didn't take care of yesterday because of the football game. Been pretty cold here in Wisconsin all winter.

2. That happens here in the midwest almost every winter
We lose trees and flowers every year because we have a warm spell in the middle of winter, plants bloom and then when it gets cold again they die.

5. These things happen all the time here
in the Midwest. Andv last Thursday and Friday, it was warmer at the North and South Poles than it was here. I really miss warmth.

10. over the last ten years
Over the last ten years we have had an increasing problem with this in the fruit orchards. It was once very rare. Warm temperatures in January and February bring the trees out of dormancy, and they then are way ahead of schedule and more vulnerable to subsequent frosts later in the year. It is a problem.

6. We have had ZERO rainfall so far this month, I think.
It is our rainiest. And we have had weeks of spring heat.

7. January thaw.
I lived in Upstate New York as a child, and almost every year sometime in January it would get above freezing and melt all of the snow -- and we got a LOT of snow every winter -- down to the ground. Then it would get cold and snow again.

Right now I'm in Santa Fe, and it's not as warm here as that map promises. There's still snow around my apartment in patches because there are areas the sun doesn't hit this time of year.

8. cboy4, it's clear you are favored by the gods and goddesses, as many
of the rest of us are trying to thrash our way through bitter temps and way too much snow.

By this gauge, we must have been terribly wicked in another life.

If you have a moment, go out and enjoy that beautiful part of the country you live in.

9. cboy4, you just LOVE looking at the weather, don't you?
 It's 41 and cloudy in Anchorage today. Still warmer than normal, but it's supposed to cool down and snow tonight, then clear up and get cold again. I doubt that we'll have any more extended sub-zero stuff like we did earlier this month.
