And let me preface my comments with the fact that I'm one of them, I'm very angry that my ten year old dog could have gotten some of this food. I'm not altogether sure she didn't.

However, I'd also venture a guess that if the wheat had been used in some obscure cultural food and 17 poor non-white babies had died - it would be met with a big yawn.

But when it could be ANYBODY'S pet, well that's a different ballgame. Because lots of people spend more on their pets each year than they pay in taxes or charitable giving. LOTS of people.

4. Yes, I'm one of those people.

My spouse & I couldn't have children. We tried for many, many years. Due to this fact, our dogs are our children. If you can't understand how important pets are to some people, I feel sorry for you. When they are all you have, they are everything.

6. For me, it's about more than pet foods

It's about importing tainted wheat to be used in a factory located in the middle of America's wheat belt. It raises issues of support for American workers and farmers, wise use of petroleum and other resources, and all the globalization issues.

We found out about these practices because of pet food, but pet food is not the only concern here.
