There is much more information to come.....
If you are excited about the wiretapping information then you have not seen anything yet. I am not hypothesizing or prone to wishful thinking. Sy Hersh was on NPR about a month and a half ago and he said many people were telling him to talk to them on when Obama took office. He said there will be an avalanche of information.

1. True.
We are only seeing the tip of the ice cube. It goes deeper than most people -- even here at DU -- realize.

4. Much deeper.
I think we will be amazed at how much information comes out in the next few days, weeks and even years. The dam is beginning to burst and no fingers are plugging the hole in the dam.

7. I so hope a prediction I made is wrong, but
fear it will be revealed that *co held secret tribunals and executions.

Nothing will surprise me, nothing. I took my tinfoil off years ago after I started researching MK-ULTRA in the 70's.

12. I hope a lot of it will come out but I am not sure I personally want....
to know all the details. Just put him in jail. I know this is horrible but if there were secret tribunals that will haunt my dreams for quite a while.

15. The truth must be known. We have a moral obligation to the world.
I have been haunted by the photos of the bodies from Fallujah, of the DU babies, of Abu Ghraib, of the Iraqi children blown to pieces. It will never leave my heart nor mind. As horrific as it may be, the truth must be told.

I do understand how you feel though, demgurl.

This is what I have repeatedly told folks who tell me they do not want to hear about torture. I tell them it will go on even if they turn a blind eye. I just hate hearing about it. My dreams have been haunted as well. The nightmare will not be over until they are prosecuted.

Thanks for the kind words.

19. "The nightmare will not be over until they are prosecuted. " Amen.
I despise them for putting us into a place where we have had to force ourselves to be the witnesses of such inhumanity.

I hear you on, 'no one wants to hear'. My mother actually said, "You only talk about things no one cares about." Lovely huh?

We made it through though! People are always so much stronger than they know.

We made it.

20. Corruption, evil, and abuse of power have existed since the beginning of time.
Just call on some logic - it makes me feel better every time. And Obama is right: Transparency is the only cure.

2. I agree
I think that each revelation will be more explosive than the previous one.

I honestly believe that once it snowballs 85% of Americans will demand prosecution.

5. people who are dubious about domestic spying don't realize that it was
rather commonplace decades ago, particularly if you had a well-educated person in your family whose public opinions deviated from the norm.

this will be ubiqitous, it'll be about who is connected to who

or i should say what liberal is connected to what other liberal .. and HOW they are communicating

it'll be monitoring for updates on countless blogs and websites, looking for "domestic" markers .. nothing to do with "terrorism"

9. I think this will be much more important than most realize.
Here is my theory and I feel it only touches the surface of things:

Nixon did not have tons of electronic toys at his command and so they caught the people breaking into the room at Watergate.

Bush had tons of toys at his disposal. I think we may find that instead of having to break into anyone's place, all he had to do is have direct access to everyone's communications.

There are several ways this information branches out. One is with reporters. Bush took away whistle blower laws and he listened in on every type of communication reporters had. This meant anyone trying to reenact deepthroat's steps would have immediately gotten caught. It also meant that Bush could keep control over journalists by knowing their dirty little secrets.

The other branch of this tree leads to someone much more insidious. The Bush administration would have been spying on the opposition party and known all of their secrets. People here have wondered, many times, why certain members would be gun-ho about doing something and then appear to roll over and play dead. Many theorized that Bush might have something on them but until now there was no proof.

There will still never be proof about the latter item I have mentioned. If things were big enough to hold over someone's head then it is embarrassing enough to keep quiet.

We may actually be looking at an actual Watergate reincarnated for the 21st century.

21. The whistle blower laws - think Obama's got that on his immediate "to do" list?
I would think that's going to be paramount.

22. You may not be uncomfortable with it or not alarmed because of past
spying on American citizens but don't expect everyone to sit for it.

I can't wait to see what Day Two holds. I am sure someone will do an official thread. I am not even sure how to start a one and only. Maybe you should.
