10. I've never heard it either but it's not uncommon in places like court rooms

Having worked in the DoJ for several years, most judges still insist that any lawyers in the court room wear a suit jacket.

Not being a lawyer, I never felt like that rule applied to me.

I'm glad to see Obama doing away with that annoying bit of tradition.

is not a courtroom, it's a work office. They are supposed to roll up the sleeves (jacket off) and go to work.

12. As others have said, it was a Bush rule, (and may have been a rule of previous

presidents, too).

I don't care if Obama wears his jammies in the Oval office... if he does the right thing for this country and our Constitution (as I believe he will) it will prove FAR more respect than Bush's lying, spying, torturing, destroying, warmongering, empire building, law breaking DIS-respect that he perpetuated while wearing a bloody jacket and tie.

13. Since "appearances" was all Bush understood (banners, boots & rented barns) he figured the

people would think he was werken if he had his werken suit/jacket on. Helped him keep track of things. If he had a suit jacket on, he could remember he wasn't playing golf.
