Terrorism trial begins in Paris

PARIS: Three men charged with involvement in a deadly synagogue bombing in Tunisia went on trial Monday in Paris in a case expected to highlight the reach and complexity of Qaeda-linked networks in North Africa.

Among those charged is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who says he orchestrated the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the United States. Mohammed is being held at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, by U.S. authorities and was not present for the proceedings Monday. The French trial has no direct link to the investigation into the Sept. 11 attacks on New York and Washington.

French prosecutors say Mohammed ordered the bombing of an ancient synagogue on the Tunisian island of Djerba on April 11, 2002. The attack killed 21 people - 14 German tourists, five Tunisians and two French people, prompting the French legal proceedings.

Who saw the Bin Laden speech last week that threatened Obama and Israel? Maybe we'll see a few local attacks, which will show how weak Democrats are in the War on Terrorism. Then, Republicans can take power again and escalate the Iraq War, which breeds even more terrorism worldwide.

also, you apparently missed the point... the time is right for another terrorist strike on US soil and the Bin Ladin speech might trigger that attack or even worse a series of attacks on small-town malls, which will cripple the teetering US economy.

Too many soft targets and too much money wasted on wars rather than protecting our borders.

Republicans didn't do a damn thing but let Bin Laden win, it wasn't about blowing up our nation, it was about crippling our economy and GWB gave Bin Laden what he wanted.
