Fascinating point of view from Paranoid Freeper-esque patient...
Please allow me to begin by saying that I did not challenge, argue, or harangue this lady. I simply sat there and nodded the entire time, so those of you who feel that it is unprofessional to counter lunatic-fringe people just because he or she is a dental/medical/podiatric/veterinary(!) patient can put down your sharp knives.

This lady said something which stopped me cold, and I'm not easily surprised.

She leaned over to me on Inauguration Day and said sotto voce/conspiratorially, "It'll be all right, doctor."

Everything but the Sarah Palin wink.

"What will?" I asked her.

"Everything." she then went on to explain that Cheney had moved into Virginia in order to oversee the Obama Administration and that he was still in control. That Obama had been read the Riot Act and would toe the line or face "consequences".

When she was finished, she said with all certainty, "I believe this."

I replied, "Anything's possible."

1. Diagnosis: right-wing hate radio listener.
This is actually one of their less stupid theories. I take it you are not the lady's psychiatrist.

7. Consciously/subconsciously screwing things up
is part of the RW agenda...they can't help themselves, it's wired into their makeup. Just recall those pics of Roberts at that Camping Trip...lots 'o repressed stuff going on there. Complex guy, no doubt.

8. Always a grain of truth...
Just a quick note about this-

This country and its government is in large part run by corporate power. There is no question that this is the case.

Cheney is moving to McLean Virginia. Just spend a few minutes Googling McLean and you will find that there are some very serious people in McLean. It is home to not only very powerful private citizens, but also has one of the highest concentrations of corporate heavyweights that I know of.

This lady is obviously a wingnut, but her comments beg the question of what needs to be done to reign in private power.

Just sayin...

10. Of course. It's interesting how they understand it all.
I guess they have some understanding of power, without really knowing the truth:

"The greatest part can not know and therefore they must believe."

And so it goes.

12. Private Power = $$$$$
I'm in agreement with you that this country is run by corporate power...or, inversely, when they fail we all do. This is especially the case now with so much wealth in so few hands. Crashcart was definitely looking out for those interests (which were his as well) over the security of this country or its welfare. Thus no surprise he's sticking around the beltway...while I won't go as far as saying he's setting up a shadow government, he sure is keeping an eye on his vested interests. The rub here is that corporate power has taken a massive hit in recent months...and there's little Cheney has done to save the fortunes of some of his biggest friends. This is a "what have you done for me lately" world and I don't think the financial or corporate world wants to cozy to closely to this regime at the present moment.

Cheney's big deal is to protect his contractor buddies. My bets are he's burried all the details of their contracts and other pay offs during the past 8 years and have made it so the military can't operate without them. I'll be curious if there's any accounting on these companies and what defenses they'll have...that surely will shine a light on Cheney.

Cheers...

11. Hardly surprising.
Given their blind patrilocal lives, it seems that this woman finds as much comfort from the thought of "big daddy" in his bunker running her life as she likely found from her real "big daddy" who came into her room to "comfort her" at night after her mom passed out.

Just sayin.
