Gitmo is an abomination, no better than a concentration camp, we're better than that.

Gitmo is nothing more than a torture facility, run by the U.S. government, operated offshore so as not to sully the good and merciful name of America by having prisoners of war held indefinitely, without visitation or legal representation and tortured on our own soil, that just wouldn't look right.

The people held there should be given legal rights just like those we have here, and they should be held here, in our own prisons, terror suspects or not, and they should be allowed to see their families, and they should be given lawyers and trials, and either convicted or released, and they should definitely not be tortured anymore, as we are better than that.

The very idea of holding prisoners of war offshore and torturing them forever is beyond disgusting and revolting and the fact that Gitmo even exists is an abomination to America and it's people, and it's so called freedoms and values.

GITMO IS A TORTURE CAMP, and every day that it remains open is an abomination and an atrocity and a shame to us all. Fuck Gitmo, and the monsters who operate it, and fuck everything it stands for, close it down, just as Auschwitz was closed down.

1. May I make a minor, but possibly meaningful, comment please?

I agree with what you say, we are in near total accord. I would say just these two things though. The first seems important to me, but I can't tell you exactly why. Look at your last phrase (yep, I read it all) where you say "Auschwitz was closed down" which is sort of accurate but sort of not. Auschwitz was abandoned by fleeing criminals, it wasn't closed down in any normal sense of the term. In a sense that is the case at Gitmo too. The criminals who kept it going have run away and now it collapses of its own evil.

The other thing might be more important than I recognize, its got that sort of disturbing air about it, so its worth mentioning. At lest some of the concentration camps were also "work" camps. Prisoners at the WW-II concentration camps were rented out as slave labor to German industry. Now this is a horrible way to describe it but it is noticeable that they tried to get use out of their prisoners before they died. We would just hold them until they rotted in the sun.

2. Auschwitz was never fully closed down,
On Jan 27 1945, a rifle division of the Soviet Army reached the camp, found 7500 prisoners remaining. They were to sick to be evacuated.
