From Blogosphere to Cable News, Pressure Points and the Fierce Urgency of Now
On the inauguration of President Obama, I wrote and called for people to be patient with those who were still complaining of things not done and what needed to be done, that they were not raining on Obama’s special moment. I wrote that history gives us pressure points on which to act and that this election was such a point in history where history was giving us this cue http://journals.democraticunderground.com/mmonk/51 .

Well Russ Tice, an NSA whistleblower, has taken the cue given by Obama’s message of open government and appeared in an interview on Countdown http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osFprWnCjPA . This marks a big advancement in the march to revelations of activities that occurred under the Bush administration. Now, maybe more whistleblowers will begin to reveal what happened such as the members of the NSWBC, http://www.nswbc.org and various contractors of the government that wish to talk as a matter of conscience about the abuses and violations of our Constitution.

That adds more to the pressure points and should be an historical cue for many of you to begin contacting your representatives and also the White House in support of those showing their bravery and love of country by coming forth to provide sunlight on these issues. Let’s seize the moment:

http://www.house.gov/

After all, it is your government

Thanks for your indulgence.

2. We're Just Starting To Learn...
The fact Tice came out so quickly after this regime was vanquished just shows how much we don't know and soon will. The cone of silence has been lifted, the bullies are gone and with it, voices can now speak up that feared retribution until last Tuesday. The veil of obscene "executive privilidge" is gone and also is the fear/promise of pardons to those who committed crimes. This truly is a far different day than where we were on Monday...and it's a time to adjust and prepare.

The crimes of the boooosh regime are widespread...too widespread that they can't or won't go away queitly. I suspect every week we'll get another revelation...either through investigations or some "tell-all" that will reveal another crime that occured and with it will be more fuel to demand both investigation and accountability.

As I've said in other threads on this topic, Obama is one person...and a very busy one. The job of accountability is a widespread one. It belongs to Congress whose lost both power and credibility by their lack of acting on known criminality and if there is to be any restoration of the balance of powers, the current and future investigations must go "where the evidence" leads and bring those responsible for abuses of power to be held accountable. Then there's a Justice Department that was hijacked by political operatives and neutered...they will be crucial in following the evidence as well and to restore their own independence in the process.

Lastly, it's definitely up to us...never to forget and to keep the pressure on our elected officials...especially Congresscritters...not to "move along" in regards to the lawlessness of the past. Patience is a virtue at the present time as we begin to discover the real corruption that's happened, but once those crimes come to light, we must demand them to be investigated and prosecuted...no matter who is involved.

Cheers...

4. I'm Not Seeing That Happening...
There's a fine line between procrastination and patience...the rush to judgement vs. getting to the real truth. The fact that we're already discussing torture is a good thing...you can't treat a problem until you admit there was one. President Obama has admitted the problem. Now we're starting to hear about the illegal wiretapping and spying. Yes...we need to act on these revelations and try to bring more forward...get the smoking guns that will enable successful prosecutions of those culpable.

Cheers...

5. Tice and others need to know we have their back. How many years
has it been?

"Procrastination is still the thief of time. Life often leaves us standing bare, naked, and dejected with a lost opportunity. The tide in the affairs of men does not remain at flood-it ebbs. We may cry out desperately for time to pause in her passage, but time is adamant to every plea and rushes on. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words, "Too late.""
