Zach Wamp On Washington Journal - Medicare question
Edited on Thu Jan-22-09 08:50 AM by ThomWV
This good Republican Representative tells a caller that Medicare is a wonderful thing and he's glad she is making use of it, however, he goes on to say, you get into the program now at age 62 but people are living longer so at some time in the future we're probably going to have to raise the age a bit.

So I'm sitting here thinking, is it his plan to raise the at which an old person qualifies, so people can't get medical care until later in life - hence solving the problem of people living longer. Republican thinking at its best.

2. A Rare Moment Of Clarity
Wamp (what a name...hell I can't even parody it) actually admitted that when DeLay twisted arms to get that obscene prescription drug bill passed it was "the beginning of the end" of GOOP control in the House.

The day I hear a repugnican discuss the concept of preventive medicine and care will be the first. The catastrophic system we have now forces people to wait until the last possible moment for any health care and with it higher costs. But then that requires walking and chewing gum at the same time...something I think Wamp () has great difficulty doing.

This is one of the "rising stars" in this party. If this were a baseball team, it'd barely make a AA rating.

Cheers...

3. Total bullshit.
You can't get Medicare till you are age 65.

You can opt for early Social Security payments at age 62, but you are still ineligible for Medicare for three more long years.
