I think I finally hit on something that works on my coworker, who wants to look to the future rather than prosecute anyone for what was done in the past. I compare BushCo's crimes to the kidnapping and murder of a child. I think you need to put a real, human face on this to get their attention. So many people are unable to deal in the abstract or realize that principles have impact on what happens in real lives.
Ask people how many of them would be willing to let (insert name of murderer here) go free without prosecution. What he/she did is in the past. What we'll do is make sure no more innocents like (insert victim's name here) get kidnapped and murdered.
I doubt many people would find that acceptable.

Logic, makes sense to me and I agree but logic doesn't always make sense to a lot of people.... Those that are willing to forgive and forget have never been on the receiving end of any real harm, they cry about what has happened but don't see it as actually having happened to THEM. This attitude is a lot like the one that makes them believe that things always happen to someone else...
