2. They even lied about THAT?!
Did BushCo ever tell the truth about anything? Anything at all? I bet Laura didn't even design that damn carpet!

4. I guess the jacket rule was instituted so bush's famous farting at interns
would have a visual element to it as well.

The Prez likes to fart
By CHB Staff

Paul Bedard of U.S. News & World Report raised a few eyebrows this week when he went public about President George W. Bush's fondness for - well - farts.

Yep. The President farts - a lot. He farts in front of other White House staffers. He likes to joke about farts, cusses constantly and laughs with glee at the misfortune of others.

Writes Bedard:

He loves to cuss, gets a jolly when a mountain biker wipes out trying to keep up with him, and now we're learning that the first frat boy loves flatulence jokes. A top insider let that slip when explaining why President Bush is paranoid around women, always worried about his behavior. But he's still a funny, earthy guy who, for example, can't get enough of fart jokes. He's also known to cut a few for laughs, especially when greeting new young aides, but forget about getting people to gas about that.

10. It's almost an insult to nine year olds, isn't it?
Even they know that there are certain times when you should behave!

7. Gee what a surprise to see that shit-for-brains never got past the 9 year-old
mental level...Everything I hear reinforces his image as a total moron...which may be an insult to morons.

I would feel sorry for Laura, but I she had to know what she was getting into.
They married three months after they met...makes me wonder about her sanity.
I think no one else would take either of them.

15. No, it was instituted so he'd always have a jacket nearby to polish his glasses on.

6. The Reagan White House had the strict rule regarding wearing jackets in the Oval room
GHWB and GWB both continued with it, but it wasn't enforced with the same fervor.

11. So I started watching DVDs of "The West Wing".
I've seen the first four shows and so far Martin Sheen, who is suffering from back problems, has shown up in the Oval Office in exercise clothes, no jacket and no tie.

But in all seriousness... I'm thinking about getting a dog.

12. That's what happens with weak managers. Micromanagement of the petty bullshit
Sure, a dress code of sorts, but forcing jackets is small minded crap. Totally on par with Bush.

16. remember it was only last week Bushes legacy
of bringing informality to the white house was highlighted. So Bush talking down to you by using stupid demeaning nicknames was ok, Normal humans dressing like normal humans at the work place, the end time.

18. Sounds like Bush liked to terrorize his subordinates.
The dress code is just a small hint of it, along with other things we've all read, but it sounds like the experience of walking into the Oval Office and dealing with President Bush was a nightmare - he nitpicked you over small shit, cussed you out, chewed you out, threatened you, etc. The dress code is just his way of raising the stress levels of his subordinates.

I'm glad he's out of there, and we have a President focused on getting things done rather than being a prick to his staffers.

21. Dimson was a dickhead, especially with the low level staffers.
Edited on Thu Jan-22-09 10:38 PM by Old and In the Way
He was probably sufficiently intimidated with the senior staff...they were his intellectual superiors, after-all. But I bet he was a pompous ass with the junior staff/secretaries that ran the place. Someone had to fear his power as pretzeldent.

22. Yep, every new president gets a new Gunlock chair
Donated by the company.

Yeah, this micromanaging stuff is the hallmark of every small-minded boss I've ever seen. They can't figure out an annual budget, but by God nobody's going to be wearing sneakers in the office!
