A grow house with 66 plants was found in Tampa Fla today,
the police estimated the value of the pot at 237,000 dollars. Now, a 30 lb brick was delivered to a Texas address last week by UPS and the police estimated the value at 10K, What's the matter with that picture???

1. They found one like that North of Richmond about a year ago
apparently growers buy a house and the whole thing is one big grow operation. They usually get caught due to high energy use.

3. Dirt weed v. hydroponically-grown
That, along with the tendency for the police to overstate these things.

13. It takes about 6 to 10 plants indoors to get a pound of buds.
Right now a good pound of purp, endless sky or white rhino would run about 4 thousand with the oz price set at 300 to 400. Just do the math from there.

They always lie about yield, and they always lie about street value.

Er, or so I've heard.

16. Depending on the set up-
You can do 800 plants in a plastic tube about 7' tall by 6' around. 66 plants in dirt buckets is a small room, hydro, it's a 6x6 or 8x8 table. Now that can be a lot of weed, but it's never nearly as much as they report.

Also, they consider the wight of the whole plant, stem, stock, leafs and all. Anyway, that's what someone told me, once.

15. way over inflated value....
Edited on Thu Jan-22-09 06:22 PM by mike_c
A pound of good Humboldt indoor probably goes for about $5000, cleaned and trimmed, but I'm told that even that price is currently hard to get, i.e. some growers here are having to go well below that to move product. Really choice cultivars-- which is a pretty fickle market thing-- might bring a bit more. But it's really hard to predict potential yield from a statement like "66 plants" because yield is so dependent on cultivar, growing conditions, care, and so on. I'm guessing the real value was closer to the $50K-65K range. If it was good.

But unless they're growing the mythical gov't experimental utter mind-fuck weed, it's bogus.

oops, edited because I can't add!

17. Exactly.
And Fl has a great indoor market, but it's flooded right now, so the best they can pull is 4k.

there were no pichers in the paper of the grow house. It was described as an old army bunker that was located under a shed in the back yard of a home in Tampa. You can check the article out in the St. Petersburg Times Metro section dated today 1-22-09. Oh, and the guy that owned the house was a Cuban national that was released on a $40,000.00 cash bond. :wtf:

21. According to a High Times article I once read...
when the cops raid a grow operation, they consider each plant you have that's six feet or less in height to bear one kilogram of finished marijuana, and a plant six feet one inch or more to bear three kilograms.

That doesn't mean the whole plant weighs a kilo--it means that if you were to pick all the pot from the plant, dry it and remove the stems, you'd be left with 2.2 pounds of salable weed.

Hence: 66 plants equals 145 pounds of marijuana in the eyes of the law.

As to the 30 pounds of refreshments for George Bush's housewarming party: you know $10,000 for thirty pounds of pot comes out to $20.83 per ounce. Oregano costs more than twenty dollars an ounce.

Man Sentenced To Six Years For Growing Pot
01-22-2009 3:26 AM

(Tucson, AZ) -- A Tucson man was sentenced to six years in prison Tuesday for growing pot in his North Side home. Fifty-five-year-old Phillip Richard Simmons was arrested in September 2007 after police officers responding to a disturbance call stumbled upon what appeared to be a marijuana-dealing operation in his house. According to court documents, police found 170 live marijuana plants and hundreds of containers filled with the illicit substance, along with drug-processing equipment, a marijuana pipe and a white powder. Simmons was convicted last month for possession of marijuana for sale, possession of narcotic drugs for sale and two other drug-related charges. He told the court he was giving the pot to cancer patients, and people with eating and pain disorders. He reportedly told the court, quote, "It's in God's word that it's all right. It's man's law that it's wrong."
