Holbrook gave Ambassador Blackbridge (Negroponte) a pleasant shout out. "And hello to my good friend, John Negroponte."

What the fuck was **that** about? And why is that ghoul allowed anywhere NEAR Foggy Bottom????

1. I haven't a clue ...
But it doesn't give me the "warm fuzzies" with regard to confidence in Holbrook.

What a disappointment. :(

at least in the last year when I started watching hearings. Will check on his exact title, but I figure he was actually doing work while Condi was the figurehead.

edit to correct his job title - and here are some links...

3. transition
"In addition to top representatives from each State Department bureau, several foreign policy bigwigs were present for Obama's visit.

John Negroponte, who just two days ago served as deputy secretary, was made to wait for two hours before the President and new secretary arrived. Other faces in the crowd included Bill Cohen, Vernon Jordan, Strobe Talbott, Martin Indyk and Maine Sen. Susan Collins, who introduced Obama's pick for U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice at her confirmation hearing last week."

4. I hope it was just transition and he will disappear. I don't want to see that Central American
killer anywhere on any Obama team. No way to that despicable person.

I am not impressed with Holbrook, either.

5. I always liked Holbrook..
I saw him on Charlie Rose a while back, but other than that I haven't seen him for years. What is it about him that you don't like?

6. Negroponte recruited one of the most powerful Spanish radio DJs in LA
er...I'm sorry "arranged a visa" for him.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ren%C3%A1n_Almend%C3%A1rez_Coello

Renán Almendárez Coello (born November 18, 1953 in Honduras) hosted the morning show on KLAX-FM in Los Angeles, California. Billed as El Cucuy de la Mañana ("The Boogeyman of the Morning"), Coello was widely syndicated. His show was heard from 5-10 am Monday through Saturday. He had an estimated audience of about three million daily listeners. For six years, "El Cucuy" was the most-listened-to voice on L.A. radio, surpassing the ratings of Rick Dees and Howard Stern. <1>

On September 15, 2008, Coello announced that he was leaving KLAX in order to launch a new radio network in addition to continuing on his television program on Azteca America. KLAX is now carrying the morning show of Joaquin Garza, "El Chulo", from sister station WLEY-FM in Chicago.

Almendárez was born in Honduras and began working in radio at age 15.<2> After interviewing the then-US Ambassador to Honduras, John Negroponte, Negroponte arranged a visa and Almendárez emigrated to the US. He became a US citizen in 2000.

While non-partisan, Almendárez is active in encouraging Latinos to vote and to take part in activism against anti-illegal immigrant legislation and sentiment, such as the 2006 Great American Boycott.

Interesting how the "Great American Boycott" did absolutely nothing for immigrant rights - other than bring thousands of desperate workers over the borders with the constant media refrain of "amnesty!"

I'm sure US CorpAgra thanks Negroponte.
