It really was nice, you got the sense of a gust of cool, fresh air was entering a dungeon, flinging open the doors. :)

10. Rice was fired and released by the American people two days before.
I think it would have been presumptuous of her to have stuck around.

15. LOL! I don't know if there is a handoff traditionally.
But, that being said, I doubt that she would have stuck around for one if there had been a tradition of handing over.

All I know is that once the rats jump off the ship, it's hard for them to get back onboard.

24. Wait
You seriously just called someone no class and then in the same breath made comments about how a highly educated black woman was fucking her boss and is going to be his maid?

Congrats, you just won Douchey Post of the Day, and it's not even 2pm yet.

I know Hillary Clinton expected to be doing a different job this year but I think everything worked out for the best. I'm glad she decided to go with the flow, and you never know what's in store next!

9. This Must Be Wingnut Nightmare Time...
You have a competent BLACK man as the POTUS, a Catholic as the Veep and now Hillary at State. Yep, those heads are exploding. What makes them go even bonkers is when their ilk voted for the confirmation...even knuckledragger Imhoff.

The losers are just waking up to the new realities that not only do they have no power, but still haven't figured out they are a long way from getting that power back. Unlike Democrats who took our anger and frustration in '04 and worked to win in '06 and '08, the GOOP has no Howard Dean, no netroots and no direction other than down.

When booooosh was installed the second time, I dreamed of a day like Tuesday...it's like a big cloud has now lifted and with it the debris of the past 8 years. Here's wishing all in the Obama Administration nothing but the best of success...the job is both vital and daunting.

Cheers...

Condi actually did a good job, I think she was hamstrung in a lot of way by some policies that needed to be adjusted. I am hoping Hillary can learn from her past mistakes and take State in the right direction.

18. She was working for an administration that was toxic and corrupt...
... an administration that would not accept dissent within their ranks.

She became part of that administration, and whatever "good job" she did contributed to the overall stench of the criminal enterprise.

The United States trashed a lot of international good will while Bush was king.

25. These would be a few...
She reopened nuclear negotiations with North Koreo, even authorizing bilateral talks, which George W. Bush had adamantly refused to conduct all through his first term as president.

She persuaded Bush to endorse similar (if less promising) negotiations that Britain, France, and Germany had initiated with Iran, which he had also vigorously opposed.

She crafted the terms of a United Nations resolution to investigate war crimes in Sudan, a measure that first-term Bush had resisted.

She stopped the campaign-which had been launched with great verve by Vice President Dick Cheney-to replace Mohamed elBaradei as chair of the International Atomic Energy Agency and then got U.S. intelligence agencies to resume briefing IAEA officials, a practice that had also been discontinued in the first term.

As a prerequisite to all the above accomplishments, she staved off Cheney's intense efforts to appoint his protégé,John Bolton, as deputy secretary of state and acknowledged Bolton's unsuitability for a concession prize-U.N. ambassador-by assuring Democratic opponents that he would be carefully "supervised."

Rice Gives Iran Weeks, not Months, To Decide on Nuclear Talks

International community offers Iran incentives to abandon nuclear program

By David Shelby
Washington File Staff Writer

Washington -- Iran has weeks, not months, to respond to the proposals from the international community to resolve the diplomatic impasse over Iran's nuclear activities, according to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

“{W}e can't wait for months while Iran again says on the one hand maybe they're interested in negotiating, on the other hand maybe they're not. They need to make a choice and the international community needs to know whether negotiation is a real option or not,” Rice told reporters in Vienna, Austria, June 2.
