I'm guessing they will be partial to Camp David. Their Chicago home will not be much of a quiet haven for them, and it would be a Secret Service nightmare.

Hawaii's a bit far away (in case of an emergency, he WOULD come back in a hurry)

Camp David may be the only safe place for them to "get away" to..

I also think he will not take August "off" ever year :)

1. There are some pretty remote areas in Hawaii.
He and Michelle could easily hide for a coupla weeks in Kauai.

3. As a "regular" place that would be pretty far away.. I'm thinking flying time
He striked me as the type who would want to be close enough to get back in a hurry, if something big happened...not like someone we know:)

6. Get back for what? In person meetings?
The White House is wherever the President is.

Unlike the shrub, this guy will be working on any vacation, time zone differences won't mean that much to him.

Michelle will have to take his barackberry away and force him to relax a little bit. I think he will always find peace and relaxation in Hawaii. Even more so than Camp David.

4. Depends on kind of 'vacations' they want.
They've gone to Hawaii every year, I think, with Chicago friends joining them. Chicago friends have promised to spend time in DC to be available to help keeping him 'normal.'

Camp David always sounds good to me, but don't know what they'd like; they ARE city folks, after all.

5. His safety is so precarious now, I'd want total seclusion , if I were Michelle
There are some real crazies around, and we need this guy to stay healthy and in charge..:) The nights on the town in the city, may be off limits for a while..

7. I feel that way about his safety,
but somehow I don't see him as 'hiding away.' I actually expect them to have dinner 'out' in DC from time to time, and maybe take the girls out too.

8. With Two El-Ed Children. . .
. . .they probably won't be taking such frequent vacations. They seem the type of parents who would avoid pulling the kids out of school too often. So, maybe weekends at Camp David, and perhaps Hawaii in summer and maybe home to Chicago at Christmas. (They do still have a nice house there!)

So, i don't think they need a "ranch". Obama's not going to be on vacation 4 months a year.

11. Truman had a "White House" in Key West
Which in terms of the fastest transportation available at the time was as least as "remote" as Hawaii. Truman also didn't have the Internet available to gather information quickly and get it back out to those needing it just as fast.

So Hawaii might be quite feasible as a place to relax and recover from the stresses of the hardest job in the world. I don't expect Obama to hang out there if a crisis looks like it might be looming - or to take nearly as many vacation days as Chimpy did.

The part that Ted Turner doesn't own

Tiger Woods has a nice place down in Florida ( he bought it for $7 Million or so and then tore down the house to build HIS house on the lot)

14. Dave Letterman has a big place in Montana..so does Demi Moore
so if they want to hang out with buffalo, they're set:)

I think there are enough celebs rooting for him, to have more vacation spots available, than they could ever use:)

I think they'll just go to Chicago for short vacations, and maybe Hawaii for the holidays.

21. They're Very Welcome Here In Chicago...
The Hyde Park neighborhood is a remarkably vibrant yet private area. It's home to the University of Chicago...and started as a suburb of the city. It's a very unique place...and one that offers more privacy than you'd imagine. If needs be, there are plenty of estates and "McMansions" on the market in the suburbs...I'll bet the government could get a nice deal right now.

I don't see President Obama as being a vacation person...especially at this time. I do see him as one who can unplug...head out for a nice dinner or go to a ballgame or some other diversion to clear the braincells a bit.
