Maybe they need to start raising their own kids and paying taxes on ALL their money

1. Yes, damn! That's part of the selfish nature of SOME rich. You have all this money YET you
have to circumvent the law.

If I had the funds to have "a LEGAL nanny" or "a LEGAL housekeeper," from another country, I'd readily pay my taxes.

It really supports the STEREOTYPE of "The UGLY Rich American." = Selfish beyond belief.

2. We always paid our babysitters, when we could afford to go out

and we always paid our taxes too, because every dime WE earn is on a W-2...

We "poor-folks" don't have multiple year, averaging depreciation on estate #2, and single year cost-value scheduled depreciation on yacht #4..:)

3. Actually, the way the tax codes are set up...
it's very easy to be in violation, even with the best tax guys (and, sometimes, BECAUSE you have the best tax guys).

As for the nanny thing, people who tend to be successful also tend to make work the center part of their lives, meaning that the kids come second. Nannies are the quick solution (the British tradition is to send them off to boarding school). And it's hard to find non immigrant live in full time nannies.

This isn't to excuse anyone of either cheating on their taxes or hiring illegal workers, but an explanation as to why it's so common to see this issue with successful people elevated to high public office (if they remain in the private sector, this stuff never comes up, or rarely does).
