Jacob Anderson Meets, Practices With Pittsburgh Penguins
PITTSBURGH - A second-grade student from Fayette County had his childhood dream come true Tuesday when he became an official member of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Sealed with a hug from general manager Ray Shero, Jacob Anderson, a student at South Side Elementary in Connellsville, was signed to the team.
"This is what everybody signs. This is the same contract Sidney Crosby has and you're going to sign it," said Shero.
Anderson, 8, has cystic fibrosis, an incurable disease that affects the lungs and digestive system.
Anderson met the team, got a personalized locker, his owner jersey, a custom-made stick and a place in the line-up.
Just like the stars, he had to take part in his own news conference.
He was asked about playing right wing alongside captain Sidney Crosby and how much his contract was worth -- $1 to be exact.
"It's just amazing that Make-A-Wish would do this for him -- it's wonderful. Words can't even describe how wonderful it is," said Wingrove
