New White House website angers conservatives with dig at Bush

President Barack Obama's new White House website has come under attack for publishing scathing criticism of his predecessor's response to Hurricane Katrina in 2006.

Famed for its fluency during the election campaign, Mr Obama's online communications team now appears to have committed an early faux pas.

"President Obama will keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast," read a section on the "agenda" page of the website.

It went on to accuse the Bush administration of "unconscionable ineptitude" in responding to the hurricane, which devastated New Orleans.

Conservative commentators quickly responded to the item, accusing the new administration of using its website as a "permanent campaign tool", rather than as a neutral source of information.

"Presidents attacking presidents is not done," said one conservative website.

4. Ya know...
They kinda blew that whole "Presidents don't attack Presidents" thing when Dubya's administration basically accused the entire Clinton administration of having sacked the White House after they took office.

6. The Truth's A Bitch Ain't It...
So boooshie didn't attack Clinton when he said he was "restoring honor and dignity to the White House"...a bald-faced lie.

Maybe some of these asshats should take a trip to NOLA...not the French Quarter with the hurricane glasses, but take a ride about 10 minutes down river to the lower 9th and see how competent this regime has been over 3 years since disaster struck (not to mention being totally unprepared).

Most of us can look at our bank accounts or expenses and see how both our standards of living and the country's went to hell in the past 8 years. That isn't posturing, that's reality.

Yep...the GOOPer sure paid a lot of respect to past Democratic Presidents...just turn on hate radio or ask any Freeper what they think of Bill Clinton or Jimmy Carter. Our deserved anger at war criminal boooosh is not only justified, it's what drove many of us to work hard to take back our country.

If they don't like it...tough shit.

7. "Presidents attacking presidents is not done"
Edited on Fri Jan-23-09 07:51 AM by drm604
There were lots of things much worse than this done by the previous President which should not be done, but I didn't hear them attacking those things.

They're complaining about the use of government resources for political purposes and saying that they should be neutral sources of information. The gall and hypocrisy of this are breathtaking.

9. bullshit. they've tried this before - Bush criticized Clinton for 'messing up' Somalia
On October 13, 1993, during a visit at a San Antonio grade school, Bush expressed concern that the humanitarian mission to Somalia that he had launched nearly a year earlier was being "messed up" by the Clinton administration. In the February 1994 edition of Washingtonian magazine, Bush criticized the Clinton administration's purported lack of a "general strategy" in the foreign policy arena and the "start-and-stop" failures it had exhibited, citing Clinton's handling of the volatile situation in Haiti as a prime example.

20. "unconscionable ineptitude" = "The Emperor has no clothes"
So sorry for those whose tender sensibilities are offended by a little truth.

If they think this is an "attack" they need to toughen up a bit.
