House Minority Leader John Boehner, trying to make a serious point about the economic stimulus bill after meeting with President Obama today, quickly found himself in "that's what she said" territory:

"You know, I'm concerned about the size of the package, and I'm concerned about some of the spending that's in there. How you can spend hundreds of millions of dollars on contraceptives, how does that stimulate the economy? "

There is nothing in the Stimulis package for controceptives. Obama just came out and said he is reversing the ban on money for overseas sites that either mention or practive abortion. They are not at all related subjects..

34. All kidding aside, the truth of the matter is that the GOP base is anti-contraception.

In a sane world, the folks who are obstensibly the most against abortion would be out there advocating access to safe, effective contraception... right?

But they're not. Because the end goal of the anti-choice movement is not just outlawing abortion, but outlawing ALL forms of contraception and, by extension, all non-procreative fucking.

Obama is 100% correct in saying "we should be able to agree on reducing unintended pregnancies", because that is an excellent way to frame the argument-- it forces the anti-contraception nutjobs to come out and express their agenda, which includes (among other things) throwing women in jail for taking the birth control pill.
