Bear with me for one moment:
Think back to the days prior to now-President Obama's outdoor address at the stadium in Denver. Was the "Religious" right not begging their flocks to pray for bad weather to rain all over his parade? How was the weather that day? Does the word 'perfect' describe that evening sufficiently?
More recently, the wingers were praying that Inauguration Day would bring sub-zero temperatures and even lower wind-chills in order that the crowds would be diminished. And how did that work out for them? "Only" about two million attendees? And none throwing eggs or tomatoes at the Presidential limo? Really? Better luck next time, "folks".
And speaking of next time, let's take a look at a weather-related incident a couple of years ago: Katrina. In the opinion of many political scientists Katrina was the bunker-buster for the Bush II Administration. I need not elaborate.
And speaking of bombs, how about the first day of the Republican convention? A little threatening hurricane to keep Mr. McCain and his minions on his toes was rather unsettling for them.
So, here are my questions: assuming for the sake of argument that there is a God, that he/she listens to prayers, that he/she would respond to such prayers as the Wingers would have us believe, then my question to the masses, but particularly the Republicans, is: do you REALLY think that God is a Republican? He destroyed the Republican establishment in a Biblical manner, with an historic Flood. Could any happenstance be construed as more Biblical than this? A powerful Ruler, hated by many, beloved by his loyal Profiteers, was laid low by what we term literally, an Act of God.
