No Smoking
With all the info out on smoking, the warnings, all the information out there, and the psas you would think that someone as smart as Barack Obama would not smoke, would stop smoking.
I hope so.
Nixon quit smoking during his tenure in the White House. He used a 45 caliber bullet to do it.
He had the ss take out the gunpowder, and when he got the 'urge' (to smoke) he would chew on or suck on the bullet.
A smart person like Obama should quit smoking.

I should try that, I need to quit.

I wonder if a 9mm would work. I'm outta .45's.

2. Yes, but brow beating him will only make him want to blow smoke in your face
Like I did every time an anti-smoking zealot complained to me.

Look - badgering smokers will not make them quit - trust me. I'm an ex smoker who still fights for smoker's rights.

14. An intelligent
discussion is not brow beating. Blowing smoke in someone's face is.
Blowing smoke in someone's face is not a RIGHT, it is an offense.

and intelligent person would not smoke, .... you are full of shit.

that isn't an intelligent conversation. and intelligent conversation about obama smoking or anyone would be the addiction factor of smoking and why it is so difficult for so many intelligent people that are well aware of the ill effects of their smoking on their body continue to smoke. and beating one up, calling them stupid, or guilt will only aggravate the addiction, not stop it.

6. Being smart has nothing to do with it. How do you know Obama is still smoking?
Edited on Sun Jan-25-09 04:37 PM by sparosnare
I saw a ridiculous youtube video yesterday. Someone shot footage of 'Obama' opening a back door of the White House and stepping outside; they claimed he was looking for a place to smoke. Trouble is - the man was clearly not Obama.

It is amusing to watch the Right Wing's fascination with whether or not Obama is smoking.

and some people are simply unable to stop. He might be one of them.

It has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence. He knows it's a stupid habit. It has everything to do with brain chemistry, and there's not that much we can do about that at this stage.

Yes its a legal drug with all sort of protections (growing, selling, exporting, etc). Regardless, those who use it regularly are drug addicts.

Also, he must brush his teeth at least twice a day, and eat ONLY organic/free range food. I mean, he's only an intelligent, confident, independent man who happens to be the president of the united states, therefore he is not to be trusted in making his own decisions regarding his health and lifestyle... am i right?!?

31. I did not
say if I knew if he was smoking or not.
I did not say I gave a "fuck" one way or the other.
I did say he should quit. If he doesn't do a thing, then he cannot quit it, CAN HE!
If you are so in love with the big tobacco conglomerates, just put your money in an envelope and send it to big tobacco. You might avoid lung cancer that way.
Smoking does not make you LESS nervous, it makes you MORE nervous.
Are you saying that he SHOULD smoke? That smoking is a GOOD thing?
Well it isn't.
And, if he smokes, he is a bad influence on the stupid little kids who see it and think it is ok.
It isn't.
Republicans are against "regulation", and NO SMOKING is a regulation. What are you all, a bunch of Republicans?
Most of the Democrats and Republicans I know don't smoke, and they know it is a bad thing, not a good thing.
That is what I said.

So they just avoid the thread, leaving the field open to moderates & chain smokers.

43. Will I Live to see 80? Here's something to think about.
Edited on Mon Jan-26-09 04:39 AM by kster
I recently picked a new primary care doctor. After two visits and exhaustive Lab tests, he said I was doing 'fairly well' for my age.

A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, 'Do you think I'll live to be 80?'

He asked, 'Do you smoke tobacco, or drink beer or wine?'

'Oh no,' I replied. 'I'm not doing drugs, either!'

Then he asked, 'Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?

'I said, 'No, my former doctor said that all red meat is very unhealthy!'

'Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?'

'No, I don't,' I said.

He asked, 'Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?'

'No,' I said

He looked at me and said,....'Then, why do you even give a shit?
